"I'll wait." He answered.

Then, she started driving inside her property and when she stopped the car, Chris closed the gate so she wouldn't have to. He watched her getting out of the car from outside her gate with his hands holding tightly onto the cold metal bars not caring about the rain that was falling on him. Before opening the door to the backseat, she looked at him.

"Thank you." She told him. "Thank you for saving me." And then she opened the door, but before she grabbed her son, she looked at him again. "And you shouldn't just stand there... it's raining." Then, she grabbed Zane who continued crying. "It's ok, baby boy." Iris whispered and kissed his temple. "Aren't you leaving?" She asked Chris who was still in the same position.

"Not until you get inside your house."

"Good night, Chris." Iris told him, starting walking to her front door. "Go..." She told him when she opened the door. "It's starting to rain more."

"I'll wait for your call." He waved and Iris nodded.

Next, she closed the door and locked it. "Ok, Zane..." She let her purse fall on the floor and got rid of her jacket with difficulty as she was holding Zane who was clutched onto her neck. "We are going to the tub, ok baby boy?" Iris said while hanging her jacket. "Yes, baby?" She smiled but Zane just made a face and shook his head fast.

"No..." He cried.

"But it's going to be good for your belly, sweetheart." Iris sat on the couch and sat him on her lap.

Her intention was just to take her boots off, but Zane thought she was going to put him on the couch and started shaking his head and whimpering again.

"No... mama... no..." He closed his hands on her shirt and cried openly again. "No..." He cried with his mouth wide opened, his eyes shut and his hands griping tightly on her shirt.

"Oh, my baby boy..." She caressed the back of his head while holding him against her and rocking him. "Mommy is not going to leave you. I just want to take my boots off, ok?" Zane looked up at her with pouting lips, trembling a bit. His blue eyes filled with tears and his shoulders still shaking.

"Dada..." He said and Iris smiled down at him.

"Dada is going to be here soon." She kissed his forehead, trying to calm him down. "You just have to wait a little. Can you wait?" She smiled down at her boy and he nodded. "Thank you, sweetheart."

Knowing she wouldn't be able to put him on the couch, she held Zane close to her with an arm and leaned forward, untying her boots with her free hand. Then, she kicked them out of her feet and got up. The next step would be convincing Zane to go to the tub.

"Do you trust mommy?" She smiled and made a face trying to distract him while she started walking to the bathroom. Zane shook his head though which caused her to crack a laughter. "You don't? That's rude baby boy." She giggled. "Mama always takes cares of you."

"No bath..." He told her and Iris smiled, almost forgetting everything that happened outside.

"You just have to sit and you can play with your toys..." She told him, trying to convince him. Immersing his belly in warm water was one of the manners to ease his cramps. "Just one minute?" Zane looked at her doubtful.

"One." He said raising his little index finger showing one as they had taught him when he had turned a year old.

"Yes my love. One." Iris kissed his cheek. "And after, dada is going to be home and he'll read you a story." She knew she was deceiving her boy, but she needed to calm him. Zane ended up nodding.
