"Wait, so you know each other?" I asked, confused that Sugawara seemed to know even more members of my family than I thought.

Iwaizumi and him looked at each other with surprise, but fortunately their eyes didn't show any sign of reluctance. I would die if they by any chance hated each other.

"We both played volleyball in high school, so we've met a couple of times." Sugawara said, finally shaking off the astonishment. He walked over to Iwaizumi and they shook hands with a small, polite nods.

"So you are here with Miyu, right?" Iwa was just making sure he understood the situation correctly and we both agreed. "He will be crushed." He mumbled, more to himself than to us.

"What? Who?" Sugwara's brows furrowed. He was visibly curious, but I knew that as soon as he hears about everything he won't be happy.

"He's far away and probably doesn't even remember me." I said, trying to ignore the weird feeling of nervousness in my stomach.

Iwaizumi looked at me almost with pity and a sigh. "He came back two days ago. Not for long, but he already said he wants to meet you at least once when he's here."

"Is he acting more normal now?"

"I wouldn't count on that if I were you."

Sugawara just looked between us, confused. He opened his mouth, but closed them almost immediately. His face gave out that he was thinking about something intensively.

"Koushi, you know Oikawa, right?" I asked, making his expression clear, but just a little.

"He was in the same team as Iwaizumi, so yes." He seemed to sense what I was trying to say. "So you're taking about him right now?"

Iwa took the cake from the counter and went inside the living room to greet everyone. We stayed a little behind so I could explain a situation, at least a little.

"We were in the same high school and because I was Hajime's cousin, we were kind of friends." I said, but Sugawara's expression didn't change.

"Kind of?"

I sighed, ready to explain the topic later, but my mom peeked from the room and smiled at us. "Come on, we are going to light the candles." And she disappeared, leaving us in confusion.

"We will talk later, okay? They will be waiting for us." I took his hand and pulled him towards the room, but he still seemed to think about what I was going to say. Well, it's nothing terrible, but he has to wait just a little more. (Just like my readers, heh.)

The whole evening atmosphere was tense, surprisingly not because of me. This time my dad was directing all his remarks to Kaori, probably not understanding why would she waste years of education just to stay at home. Well, I guess the person who spent most of his time at work wouldn't understand that, but I could see clearly what was my sister's reason.

The time passed and as many times as I tried to walk away from the table with Koushi to talk, my aunts asking more and more questions, seemingly trying to make up for the time I wasn't present at home. Finally Kaori saw my annoyance and smirked lightly.

"Miyu, I think Ai is getting sleepy, do you mind tucking her to sleep?" She asked, her eyebrows moving a little up as a discrete signal.

I nodded silently and took Ai's hand in mine, signaling Sugawara to come with me. Nobody stopped us this time and we made our way upstairs, to Kaori's room. I started reading my niece a story from our old book and soon she was sleeping hard.

"Do you want to see my room?" I asked quietly, not wanting to go through the reading again and Sugawara nodded.

When we were out of the room and I closed the door delicately, not to make a sound. Just one look at Sugawara's face told me he was a little bit worried. I didn't need to ask him why. I knew exactly what he wanted to know.
