It's my first day in college. Honestly I never thought that I'd make it here. I've worked hard ever since high school, and it paid off. I got in on a sports scholarship for women's basketball. I love it, but I don't know if I want to make a career out of it. I guess I'll see after the end of college. I took a year off so I could make sure I had everything ready, and to take a break from school. Don't get me wrong, I find learning interesting, but I needed to take a break. But now I'm ready.

I arrive at the Campus and unload my luggage from the taxi and head over to the dorm building I was assigned. There are a couple, 45 floors on each, 6 rooms per floor and 2 people per dorm. I hope to god I have a good roommate, otherwise this is going to be hell.

"Hi, Y/N Y/L/N please." I ask the reception man.
"Of Course dear.." He pauses for a second while he looks up my name in the system. "45c. Here's your key" He finishes, handing me the key. Crap. Right on the top floor. That's probably the worst room ever. I take the key from his grasp.
"Thank you." I reply, then head to the elevator. I had gotten onto campus pretty early so thankfully it wasn't too crowded.

After 5 minutes or so, I made it up to the top floor. I slide my key into the door and turn it 90 degrees to the right. I gently push the door open and walk into my dorm. The overwhelming smell of fresh paint hits my nose. To be honest, I don't mind the smell, I actually find it quite nice. Refreshing. It marks a new space, or a clean one since this building was pretty old. I place my stuff on the floor and check out the bathroom. It was a decent size, with a shower, counter with a sink and a toilet. I leave the toilet and decide to go to the campus coffee shop that I saw on my way over to my dorm building.

I get a frappuccino as it was quite warm outside. I head back to my dorm and decide to take the stairs - free exercise, right? Once I get to my dorm, I am greeted by a kind faced woman.
"Hi- you must be my roommate! I'm Wanda." She says in a warm voice.
"I'm Y/N, it's nice to meet you." I say, smiling at her.
"You seem nice, I'm glad. I was nervous about getting a really bad roommate." She giggles.
"So was I" I say, a small laugh leaving my lips.
"So, what's your major?" Wanda asks
"Basketball, you?" I ask her. (I don't really know how it works sorry)
"English literature. Not to come across as rude or anything... but-" I cut her off
"I'm short? Yeah I get that a lot." I laugh a little. "Don't worry, I'm not offended. Being short is actually kind of an advantage, when dribbling it's easy to get away from all the tall players, they find it hard to get the ball." I say, smiling.
"Huh.. I never thought of that, though I don't really pay much attention to sport." She laughs. "So, which bed do you want?" She asks.
"I don't mind, but I guess this one is nice." I say, pointing to the bed on the right, next to the window.
"Good, I was actually kind of hoping you would say that, I don't like sleeping near windows, especially when we're on the 45th floor." She says, a smile tweaking at her lips.
"Now that you say that...'' I say sarcastically, we both laugh.

"Are there any clubs that you are thinking about doing?" Wanda asks.
"I'm thinking about Russian, I speak a few other languages, and I speak a little bit of Russian, I guess now is the time to start properly learning. What about you?" I ask her, we both start setting up our beds as we continue our conversation.
"Cooking has always been a hobby of mine, but I think I'm also going to try some other ones as well, but I'm not too sure. Have you already signed up for Russian?" She asks.
"No, why?" I ask.
"Well, I heard the teacher is pretty hot. A crap ton of students apply every year, and she picks 30 to be in her class. Most of them drop out, but you better apply soon before it's too late." She says as she finishes making her bed.
"Thank you. I'll do it now." I grab my laptop out of my bag and login. I send a quick email to the email attached to the Russian programme.

A couple of hours go by, me and Wanda get to know each other more. We decided to order some food and watch a show we both loved that we were talking about earlier - Brooklyn 99.

The next day I wake up and see the time, 5 am. Me and Wanda must've fallen asleep while watching tv. I grab some of my clothes that I had put away yesterday and change in the bathroom. I grabbed my headphones and took my phone off of charge and then went for my run, locking the door behind me.

I got a coffee for me and Wanda before heading back. It was now 7am as I had mostly been looking around campus. I run up the flights of stairs while being very careful with the coffee. I got Wanda a toffee latte which she told me she liked when we were setting up our dorm yesterday. Somehow the coffee wasn't cold yet so I transfer it into a heat storing mug and leave it on the side while I wait for Wanda to wake up. I decide to check my emails whilst I wait. I had gotten one from that Russian teacher - Miss Romanoff.

Привет (privet-hello) Y/N,
Thank you for your application. I would like to ask you to fill out this simple Russian test. This will help me decide whether you would be a good fit for Russian.

-Miss Romanoff.

I click on the link for the test and fill it out relatively easily. There were a few hard questions, but I managed to get it right, I hope. I shut my laptop carefully and put it on my dresser. I decide to go for a shower since I was quite sweaty from my run.

After I finish, I get dressed and put my hair up in a ponytail with 2 small chunks either side of my middle parting down to frame my face. I do the simple makeup I normally do; Mascara, concealer where needed and lip balm.

A/N: This is my first time doing an actual story, so I hope you like it! I'll try update as much as possible :)
I haven't proof read this and the tense changes a lot lmao, Idk how to do that shit, but again, I hope you enjoyed this.

Reminder!: Go get some water and something to eat, you're amazing the way you are!
