"Meredith, can you hear me?" Christopher tried to get her attention

Meredith was staring right in front of her for at least the last 5 minutes and wasn't responding. Christopher knew this was the braintumor doing but it didn't make it easier

"You're okay. You're safe" He whispered as he brushed her hair while his wife was holding her close

After a couple more minutes, Meredith started blinking again

"Hey, you're back" Christopher smiled

"Head huwts" She whispered

"I know.. We're sorry Meredith but we're here with the next round of chemo" Christopher whispered

Meredith just laid down and crawled into fetal position

"Lara will come see you after school" Carolyn told her

"R-reawy?"

"Really" Carolyn smiled at the smiling girl

"Laugh? La-wa laugh?" Meredith asked

"No one's gonna laugh with you, okay?" Christopher said sternly, his heart braking that she wasn't thinking about her health in the first place but that she was worrying about people laughing with her

Meredith nodded and smiled at them

"Ready for another round?" Christopher smiled sadly

Meredith nodded and let her head sink into the pillow as Carolyn was hooking up the chemo while Christopher was doing a quick exam

"Here you go, you brave girl" Carolyn smiled as Christopher left Meredith's room

Carolyn took a seat next to Meredith and held her hand as the chemo was dripping into Meredith's veins. It wouldn't take long before she would be sweaty again or before she would start to vomit again.

Carolyn's hand brushed through Meredith's long honey blonde hair and noticed some strains of hair in her hand. She let go of a tiny gasp, being lucky that Meredith was asleep. She quickly threw it into the bin

...

Lara was sitting with Meredith as they were playing with some dolls, or well, Lara was playing and Meredith was enjoying to watch the small puppet show

"L-la-wr-a.. no, no good" Meredith said out of the blue

Lara had trouble understanding what Meredith meant "What's wrong?" She started to panic

Meredith threw up all over herself. Lara quickly paged a nurse

Carolyn came running into the room and handed Meredith the bucket as she was rubbing the little girl's back

"I'm sorry, I.. oh- I" Lara stuttered, not knowing what to do

"It's okay, I'm gonna clean her sheets and gown, okay?" Carolyn asked the teenager

"I- oh my-" Lara gasped

"Go outside, get some fresh air" Carolyn said. She wanted to help the teenager but she couldn't scare Meredith

"S-sowwy" Meredith whispered as she looked at her hands

"It's not your fault. This is the chemo that's making you feel sick but in the long run it will make you way better" Carolyn smiled at the little girl and threw off the blankets

"Hmm.. c-col-d" Meredith whispered

"I'm gonna try to be as quick as possible" Carolyn said and changed Meredith's gown before tucking her in

"Sleep some more, today will be a long day" Carolyn whispered

"I wan- momm-y" Meredith repeated once again

"I'll go ask her" Carolyn smiled with a bit of anger

How was it possible that this little girl was challenging one of the most difficult things in life while her mother didn't even care. She didn't stop by, she didn't try to get information.. she could only imagine that if it was one of her kids that she wouldn't leave for a second

Carolyn was on her way to Ellis Grey's lab. She walked in and saw her sitting at her desk

"Doctor Grey, your daughter has been asking for you several times"

"Tell her I'm busy and that I'll stop by some other time"

"I'm sorry but even her babysitter is there" Carolyn frowned

"I fired her, she isn't Meredith's babysitter anymore"

"Your daughter has been throwing up over herself, today I found the first clump of hair and I have no idea what to do everytime she asks for you"

"Shave her hair or let it be until it falls out, she can decide. And if she keeps asking, just tell her that I'm busy working"

Carolyn scoffed and walked out of the lab. She needed to go back, the little Meredith could use her help right now

Carolyn walked back to Meredith's room and saw the little girl laying in the big hospital bed. She seemed to be sweating already so Carolyn went to her bed with a damp washcloth and held it on top of Meredith's forehead as she was stirring in her sleep

Carolyn turned Meredith onto her side to prevent pressure sores as she wasn't very able to walk around by herself anymore when Carolyn noticed the bed was wet

Carolyn checked and it seemed as if Meredith had wetted herself. Carolyn paged nurse Laura to help her change Meredith again and to page Arizona

"I was paged?" Arizona asked as she walked in a bit after Meredith was cleaned up again

"She wetted herself" Laura told Arizona

"I wanna wait a bit longer and see if it's the tumor or just an accident before we place a catheter. It won't be nice for her, it will itch and burn" Arizona said

Carolyn nodded "I'll take a look at it everytime I'm here"

Arizona smiled as Carolyn and walked back out again

The younger kids were at daycare today because there was no school so Christopher went downstairs to get them once his shift ends

"Can we go see Meredith?" Amelia asked

"I don't know if that's a good plan but I can go ask her" Christopher said

"Why not?" Mark frowned

"She's getting chemo today" Christopher said with an apologizing smile

"Oh" Derek sighed "Can we get her something in the hospital shop?"

Christopher smiled and nodded in agreement. The three kids hurried their way to the little store and started to search for a fitting stuffed animal for the little girl that's upstairs receiving chemo

"This one!" Amelia pointed at a stuffed bear that was wearing a hospital gown

"I like that one!" Christopher said and paid for it before he and the kids went upstairs

They saw a male nurse checking Meredith's stats as they walked into the little girl's room

"Hi" Meredith smiled, she was really happy to see them

"Hi!" The kids yelled and climbed on top of the bed

"Hi, are you feeling okay?" Christopher asked Meredith

"Huwts" She frowned and pointed at her stomach

"We got you something!" Amelia smiled

"Me?" Meredith frowned, clearly not being used to get presents

Amelia handed the small bag to Meredith but she could barely open it. Derek jumped up to help her. Meredith was widely smiling when she saw the stuffed bear

"Thank" She smiled as tears pooled in her eyes

The kids carefully embraced Meredith before laying with her as Christopher turned on a movie for them
