"but i crumble completely
when you cry."

|| ISABELLA||

22nd of June, England vs Czech Republic.

today was going to be a long one. nothing new had really come up, Mason had been acting the same. of course he was and so was I. but, i tried my absolute best to stay away from him and not listen to any of the shit he wanted to say. but, somehow he would always find his way to me. just to piss me off.

Jack had still been trying really hard to get with me. but, i didn't pay any attention. My dad was right, My brother was right and even mason was right when they said this is just what sort of guy he is. i didn't want to waste any of my time over any man, especially when i could be living my life and doing my job.

today was their redemption game considering they drew with Scotland who, to be honest, aren't even a very good team. My brother would of course be playing and hopefully going for a goal but we were all still waiting for Kane to finally score again.

Kick off. i was sat on the edge of my seat, watching intensely next to Autumn. "hey, i was thinking..." my best friend started. "yes?" i asked. "what's going on with you and Mason?" she spoke. "nothing? why?" i responded. "oh come on, Bella!" Autumn pried. "what?" i frustratedly said. "you two can't get away from each other!" she said. "that's not true," i crossed my arms as i looked back at the game. "bullshit bella southgate. it's absolute bullshit and you know it," she chuckled.

"i genuinely don't know what you mean! the guy hates me!" i responded defensively. "also bullshit," she bluntly said. "you what?" my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "that guy can't leave you alone, he wants you, he just doesn't want to admit it so he acts like a little shit," Autumn turned back to face the game. i didn't respond to her because quite frankly i didn't know what to think or say. i didn't believe a word she said but it was getting slightly frustrating that everyone thooght something was going on between the two of us.

"and it's STERLING!" we heard from the speakers as we all irrupted into screams and cheers. my brother had scored again. which made me so proud. he couldn't seem to not score, Raheem was really man of the tournament so far.

it got to half time and so far, i was really happy with the result. as autumn and I began to walk back inside, i heard a man shouting and whistling at me whilst screaming about my body. "mate, talk to her like that again and i'll get you kicked out! d'you understand me?" Mason? I turned around to see that it was in fact him, he gave the guy a really stern look making me feel somewhat safe that he defended me like that.

i looked over at Autumn who gave me an 'I told you so' look, making me roll my eyes. "sorry, sorry," the middle-aged stranger quickly sat back down. i looked over at Mason with a slight smile, he looked back and nodded at me.

we were back at St. George's. England beat Czech 1-0 and i was very pleased. everyone had gone to bed and i was sat in the kitchen eating my left over spaghetti bolognese. i heard footsteps coming from the hallway as i sat on my phone.

"hey," i heard. i looked up from my phone to see Mason stood by the doorway
"oh...hey," i placed my phone on the kitchen counter and got out of my seat.
"i wanted to see how you were doing after that disgusting guy earlier, i know we're not best friends but no one should get treated like that, i'm really sorry" he apologised.
i raised my eyebrows in shock "oh...thank you, i really appreciate you doing that, you didn't have to-" i began.
"yes i did," he interrupted. we sat in silent for a few moments.
"well...good job today, you played a good game" i changed the subject
Mason leant against the wall, "thanks...was good to have you there." i tensed up...this was a weird dynamic for me. Mason had never been directly nice to me before.

We sat in silence again for a while until Mason began to walk closer to me. Mason stopped as our faces were inches apart.

Mason placed his hand on my jaw, rubbing my cheek with his thumb keeping eye contact with me as his eyes went softer.
"you...uh...you had some food on your cheek," Mason stuttered, not moving away at any point.
i instantly wiped my cheek "oh god that's embarrassing" i chuckled, looking away
. "uh...anyways it's late, i should be going to bed." I stuttered.
Mason looked at me with a smirk, "right." fuck. i slowly walked away and walked upstairs, feeling him stare at me, nervous at what had happened. maybe Autumn was right.
