Chapter 07

My life could be described in three words: contentment, peace, and joy. The wind blows as the day rushes by.

I had high honors when we moved up when I was in grade ten. School, along with my family, was one of my top priorities in life. Yep. If we have time, we will go out and enjoy each other's company.

My kinda empty shelf in my room was now overflowing, and some of them are now resting on the table.

Every turn of the pages it created reminds me of how determined and perseverant I must be. It was a waste of ink, but it was worthwhile.

Lessons that were difficult for me were a piece of cake for my parents, so I occasionally scheduled days for tutorials. And then there comes the day when Ginger, like Ate Glea, has to go to Manila to learn. Everyone was proud of her when she graduated! I'm very proud of her. Despite her rebellious nature, she had finished high school and enrolled in college.

She'll be leaving us soon, and I'll be left with Gav. Who is frowning right now? I'm not sure why he's acting this way. Ayaw n'ya na talaga akong makasama?

And it's possible that all of the chores will fall under my responsibility. Good luck, self.

We drove for two hours to the airport, and the three of us are in the back. They both doze off during the trip, falling into my shoulders. So they take up both of my shoulders, and add to that the fact that their heads are heavy. Bahala na.

Papa rented a van to travel Ginger to the airport. We've arrived at the parking lot. Ginger had to go inside by herself.

Nasa labas ako ng van at dinadama ang hangin sa labas. Sina Mama bumili ng pagkain kasi nagutom. Si Gav nagpaload ata kasi naubusan din.

"Nandito pa naman... 'di ka talaga makaabot? Yup! Okay lang." I could hear her muttering inside the van.

Binuksan ko ang pinto at naabutan s'yang binaba n'ya ang phone n'ya.

"Friend?"

Tumango s'ya. "Dami n'yang gawin kaya hindi s'ya makapunta dito. Saan na kasi sila Mama? Pasok na 'ko doon, Glai." She said.

She started fixing her bag. Tumakbo papunta si Papa dito at sinabihan ko na punta na kamo s'ya. He took out her luggage.

I tried finding the bag I brought and felt relieved when I saw it. Akala ko naiwan ko. I ran towards her and gently pinched her cheeks.

Her gaze was drawn to mine. She hold my hand and I suddenly whimpered, her hand is cold. I softly smiled at her.

"Kinabahan ako, dzai! Ako lang lang mag-isa! Pano 'yon kung gusto ko may kahawak?" She nervously asked.

"Hawakan ko katabi ko?!" She answered her own question. "Gaga, kahiya kaya, tapos ang first impression sa'kin matakotin, fragile. Bobo amputa ang strong ko kaya." She rolled her eyes, squeezing my hand even tighter.

"Takot ka nga magisa-" She placed her index finger at my mouth.

"Shhh,"

I removed her finger and gave the little bag at her.

Her eyes twinkled for a while before getting it. She examined it and looked at me, questioning.

"Ano 'to? Chocolate ba?" She tried to open it but I stopped her.

I heavily sigh. "Those aren't chocolates, Ginger. And promise me to open one each day like what Ate Glea does-"

"Wait! Binigyan mo si Ate tapos ako wala?!"

I smiled, but inside nawawala na pasensya ko, gusto ko nang matulog. "Yes and yes. When she flew back... that was the time I gave her bunch of letters so keep them, Ginger. Wag matigas ulo."
