Lizzie's POV
The twins ended up staying for dinner to get to know Alexa better, which I really appreciated. Alexa seems to really like them and hugged them both goodbye, I walk to the door to see them out. "I'll see you both tomorrow" I whisper as MK starts to walk towards their car.
Ashley holds back and hugs me again "I can see why she means so much to you! Seeing you two together it's obvious you were supposed to be that girls Mom and you're doing amazing!" I give her a smile trying not to let any more tears fall today and head back inside.
Chris left earlier and I know Alexa is pretty beat so I suggest getting ready for bed, "Come on, why don't you go and get your pyjamas on I'll heat you some milk up" I offer since I've noticed Alexa really likes warm milk to help her sleep. "Okay Mom" she says giving me a small cuddle, I kiss the top of her head and let her go.
I scan through the list in my notes app to make sure everything ready for tomorrow, I can't wait to see the look on her face when we arrive at our new house, I honestly can't believe I've managed to pull it off without Alexa working out something going on.
Paul and I have an interview tomorrow which I'm quite nervous to take Alexa too in case they ask any questions about her. I know I should probably talk to her about it, as much as I don't like the idea maybe she could just stay at home and catch up on some school work.
"You're deep in thought again, my milk will be going cold!" Alexa chuckles bringing me out of my thoughts. "I haven't even pressed start" I laugh while noticing.
"Everything okay?" Alexa asks concern arising in her face. "Yeah come sit" I tap the chair at the breakfast bar while I bring her nicely heated milk over. "I have an interview tomorrow it's with Paul, you remember he plays vision?" I start to explain, receiving a puzzled nod back.
"I don't want to overwhelm you and this isn't an interviewer that I know very well so I don't know how much they'll respect my boundaries," I say hoping Alexa catches where I'm leading with this.
"And, you don't want them asking on the spot questions about me, it's okay Mom. I know you want it on our terms once we're both ready" She so eloquently puts it. Sometimes she amazes me with her maturity and manner.
"Exactly, so we have a couple of options, although it'll only be for a couple of hours first thing I don't like the idea of leaving you on your own-" I start but Alexa rolls her eyes at me smirking, she really has picked that up from Scarlett. "Mom I'm 14 you can leave me alone for a few hours, I promise you it's okay"
"Okay, if you're sure!" I double check still feeling a small amount of guilt about leaving her by herself but she's right she's 14 and very trustworthy I know she'll be okay. We sit for a little longer just chatting about random things as we always do.
Once Alexa finishes her drink, she heads to bed I let her know I'll be in to check on her soon. I love how natural it's all become with Alexa living here, it makes me excited for our next chapter making our new house our forever hone. Or at least until Alexa gets too old to live with her mom and moves out.
That's a scary thought! She's not allowed to grow up!
After doing the dishes, having a tidy round the living room and checking my emails I go in to check on Alexa who's on her phone. I sit on the edge of her bed next to her "I'm going to have a shower and get some sleep, I'll wake you up in the morning and we can have breakfast before I leave" I say tucking a strand of hair back behind her ear.
"You're going to wake me up ridiculously early aren't you?" She wits in her usual sarcastic tone making me laugh "We'll since Friday is still a weekday you can do your history assignment and then once it's finished you can do whatever you like!" I explain.
