"Ouch!"

"Sorry, but no one told you to break your fingers."

A few hours passed since Erwin successfully completed the overthrow of the royal government. As much as Maria and Leah told Erwin to rest for a little, that man had no limits. It was already late at night according to nearby sightings, there was a strange-looking titan slowly approaching the Wall Sina.

Of course, Erwin couldn't just stand there and do nothing. Maria also wanted to participate but Erwin ordered her to stay back and seek medical help first. She had to agree that maybe having an injured leg and two broken fingers were something that should be taken care of as quickly as possible but she hated the feeling of getting left behind.

However, she hoped to be ready in case they needed her. Maybe she could stay on guard on top of Wall Sina in case she sees anything of significance.

"It's not like I broke them because I wanted to," Maria says. Currently at one of the many hospitals Lance owns.

Leah was there too, after finding out that it was safe to leave her home and that the Military Police were no longer looking after her. Maria was also glad to know that Lisa and Arthur were safe at the home of Lisa's parents.

"What do you mean by that? Did someone do this to you?" Lance finishes bandaging up Maria's two fingers. The two broken were her ring and little finger from her left hand.

"No," she lied. "It happened during a fight, that's all."

Lance was not convinced at all. Did she really think she could fool him like that? Her injuries were too recent for them to be made in a fight. Unless of course, she fought someone in the castle but as far as he knew, that didn't happen.

"If you don't want to tell me that's fine, but you shouldn't tell me lies."

"You know I am still here right?" Leah butted in between the two. "Seeing you two flirt, it's making me feel lonely."

It was only the three of them in the hospital room but Leah could feel the tension. At least on Lance's side, Maria was just not reciprocating the feeling. She felt rather strange, a new aura around her. Leah didn't know what it was but she liked it.

There was a knock on the door and a Survey Corps soldier showed up, someone Maria knew very well. Cadet Jones.

"Maria, I've come with good and bad news," Jones went straight to the point, knowing that Maria wasn't one to beat around the bush. "Good news is that the Levi squad has successfully retrieved Eren and Historia."

"And the bad news?"

"Bad news is that Road Reiss is the titan approaching Orvud District," he says. "Erwin has sent orders to start an evacuation drill tonight to gather the people away from the outer wall."

Again, all of this was a gamble.

To say that Levi was relieved was an understatement, a part of him felt at peace knowing that Erwin was safe and sound. Hange, although had suffered some injuries, was also doing fine as she had Moblit taking care of her at the moment. There were many things to worry about but right now the only thing he had in mind was-

"I'm surprised you haven't asked about Maria," Erwin approached Levi who at the moment was looking after his horse. It had been a while since they last reunited and Levi had a deep affection towards her.

"I'm afraid to ask and find out any news I don't want to hear," Levi says, noticing that his horse looked a little strange. She had gained some weight. "I trust in her ... that she must be fine, she must be here anyways."
