"happy valentine's day, baby"

kassidy, who was finally a blonde again, fluttered her eyes open slowly. she was met with jc's smiling face and couldn't help but to flash him a sleepy one of her own.

"happy valentine's day, my love" he leaned in for a kiss but was stopped by her hand smushing against his face, "morning breath. absolutely not"

"but i brushed my teeth" he frowned

"good for you, but i have not and that's gross"

"come on, baby. it's the day of love" he teased, "show me some love"

she giggled, giving in and connecting his lips with her own. one of the many things she loved about justin was how un-judgmental he was. he never failed to make her feel comfortable in her own skin, even with things as little as her morning breath.

she pulled away from him and her eyes scanned the room, immediately landing on two packed suitcases. her eyes furrowed in confusion and she pushed herself into a sitting position, forcing jc to back off her

"are you going somewhere?"

he smirked, shaking his head, "no, beautiful. we're going somewhere."

her eyes widened and she dramatically threw the covers off of her, jumping out of bed, "and when did you plan on telling me?!"

"just now?"

"justin!"

3 hours in..

"you missed the exit"

"i did not miss the exit"

"yes you did. you drove right past it, i watched you"

"kassidy" jc huffed, glancing at her from the corner of his eye, "you don't even know where we're going"

"and whose fault is that?" she glared playfully, taking a sip from the drink in which she'd gotten after begging her boyfriend to stop, "you said we're going to texas. texas is that exit"

"you've never even driven to texas!"

"says who?"

"you've driven to texas?"

"hell no, but i know it's that exit and you just missed it"

truth be told, he had, indeed, missed the exit, but he was far too deep in their playful banter to admit defeat.

"i didn't miss the exit."

"if you say so.."

"so what exactly is in texas?"

she leaned back in the seat, feet up on the dashboard and a blanket thrown over her lap. it'd been a few hours since they'd been on the road, and her curiosity was eating her alive.

"if i told you, it wouldn't be much of a surprise now, would it?"

she groaned, "you spring this all on me this morning and then drag me to the car for a 15 hour car ride. the least you can do is give me a hint"

he tapped his chin with his free hand mockingly, pretending to consider it. "no thank you, i think i'd rather keep it a surprise"

she sighed, admitting defeat. if there was one thing jc was good at, it was holding his ground. she wasn't going to get any answers out of him and she knew it. "alright, whatever. can we at least stop for some snacks? i'm hungry and i have to pee."

he subtly glanced at the time. unbeknownst to her, they were on a schedule, and he'd already set them back a few minutes when he'd missed the exact, which he still hadn't admitted to. "you can't hold it?"

she smirked, "are you gonna tell me where we're going?"

"no"

"then no, my love, i can't hold it."

"kassidy, baby.."

she groaned, shoving the hands away from her half-asleep figure. she'd knocked out a few hours ago, the curiosity and boredom driving her crazy.

"babe, come on, we're here"

she slowly peeled her eyes open, glancing around her surroundings and then looking towards jc, "where exactly is here?"

"as of right now? a hotel. our plans got pushed back because of the weather, so we're gonna crash here for the night." he half-smiled, feeling slightly guilty that he'd had her in the car for so long only for his surprise to be delayed.

she sighed, too tired to question him further. wordlessly she held her arms out to him, looking at him with a sleepy smile. he caught on pretty quickly to what she wanted and obliged, exiting the vehicle and heading over to her side.

he opened the door, gathering her into his arms in one swift motion. her legs around his waist, arms around his shoulders, and her head buried in the crook of his neck. she sighed in content, the curiosity of where they were headed long forgotten - all she wanted right now was to be in bed, cuddled in the arms of her boyfriend.

"i'm sorry this was such a boring day" he mumbled, "tomorrow will be better, i promise"

"any day with you is anything but boring" she flirted tiredly, placing a gentle kiss on his neck.

he huffed out a laugh, his grips on her thighs tightening, "quite the flirt you are, ms. besson"

"only for you, mr. castillo"
