Chapter 136: Unbelievable

As Quan Jue and Chi Jiao sat down at the stone table in the pavilion, she opened the lunch box.

The lunch box was one of those multi-layered ones, and it was a top-notch heat-insulating container. She had spent almost two hours this morning preparing four dishes and a soup. There were both meat and vegetables, and they were still hot as she took them out.

After handing a portion of rice to Quan Jue, Chi Jiao took out a pair of disposable chopsticks from her bag and handed it to him.

Quan Jue looked at the dishes in front of him. They were sweet and sour pork ribs, Kung Pao chicken, pear balls with honey, braised prawns, and tofu soup. They were much more sumptuous than his usual lunch.

“I made these myself. Brother Quan, try them quickly and see if they’re delicious.” Chi Jiao looked at him nervously and expectantly.

She was confident in her cooking skills, but she wasn’t sure if they matched his taste.

The moment Quan Jue heard that Chi Jiao had cooked everything herself, he used his chopsticks and picked up a sweet and sour pork rib to eat.

The taste was surprisingly good.

He originally thought that this delicate girl didn’t have any chores herself. Yet, she could actually cook?

“Not bad,” Quan Jue said softly as he slowly chewed and swallowed the piece of pork rib.

Chi Jiao felt a little disheartened when she heard his words. Then, he spoke again.

“What time did you get up this morning to prepare these dishes?”

Chi Jiao looked up and met Quan Jue’s dark eyes. Seeing that he was looking at her calmly, she was too embarrassed to hide it. “Five o’clock,” she said weakly.

“Don’t do it again,” Quan Jue said indifferently. “These dishes don’t really suit my taste. I’m used to the food in the canteen.”

“Then, I’ll join you in the canteen in the future.” Although Chi Jiao was a little disappointed, she didn’t show it.

She felt that she should work harder and strive for the day when her food would suit his taste.

“I’ll be quite busy for a period of time. I might not be free to have lunch with you,” Quan Jue said as he picked up a piece of pork rib and placed it in her bowl of rice.

He felt that these ribs were quite delicious.

Chi Jiao was even more dejected now. However, she knew that Grade 12 academic tasks had been very intense recently, and she couldn’t disturb Quan Jue’s studies. Therefore, she didn’t say much in return.

After that, the two of them ate quietly without saying anything else.

After a while, Quan Jue looked up and saw Chi Jiao eating with her head lowered. She looked a little gloomy.

Noticing a rice grain on her chin, Quan Jue couldn’t help but curl his lips.

He stood up silently and leaned towards Chi Jiao, wanting to get rid of the rice grain for her personally.

However, right at this moment, Chi Jiao coincidentally straightened her back and raised her head.

She was caught off-guard by a strange heat on her lips.

Chi Jiao and Quan Jue widened their eyes and looked at each other in disbelief.

Time seemed to stop at this moment.
