Chapter 4
Arlo's POV
Althea came through the front door with an excited little Dixon. Her scent hit me like a ton of bricks, I held my breath before allowing her to invade my lungs further. I watched from the chair as she plopped him on the couch and turned on an annoying cartoon.
"I'm gonna go change." She whispered before kissing him. He was too zoned in on the tv to respond to her. I scanned her as she turned to go upstairs. I was surprised her school allowed those ripped jeans and a top that showed her stomach when she moved a certain way. I was angry she felt that outfit was appropriate.
"My sissy doesn't like you." Dixon spoke up, grabbing my attention from the now empty stairs. His green eyes were intense as they stared me down.
"That's okay. I don't much like your sissy." I told him back with a smile. He narrowed his eyes at me. Weird fucking kid.
"You do like my sissy. You want to be her friend." He corrected me.
"I don't want to be your sissy's friend, trust me." I chuckled.
"What do you want to be then?" I heard Thea speak up as she made her way toward us. I looked up to see her in high waisted leggings and a sports bra. She had her phone tucked inside her leggings, it was the first time I was jealous of a phone.
"Nothing." I spoke quickly. She smiled and shook her head, popping in her bluetooth head phones.
"I'm going on my run. Can you watch him?" She asked. I nodded and drug my eyes from her delectable body. Is that how she ran? Out in the cold forest? With that boy?
I watched closely as she walked out the front door, slamming it behind her. I quickly stood and made my way out to the back patio. Watching her make her way down the snowy hill to the woods. Her voice perked up as she greeted someone.
"Focus on your breathing today. You have the time. But conserve energy through your breath." His voice was light and sweet. I tightened my grip around the railing and resisted the growl building in my gut. She was letting a Caruso boy train her, and a small
one at that. They took off into the forest, I watched them until they disappeared."You love my sissy." I heard from behind me. I turned to see the kid standing by the patio door, giving me a sly smirk like he knew something I didn't.
"Go watch your cartoons before I turn them off." I threatened. Dixon was suddenly more concerned of his lack of screen time. I grabbed us a bowl of melon from the fridge and suffered through the cartoon with him.
Elle wasn't lying when she said he shoves food. He was gonna be a big eater when he was older. Possibly even a big lycan. As I gazed down as him the front door swung open.
I immediately saw Thea strolling in, not a bead of sweat on her skin. She pulled down her dry hair and kicked off her sneakers.
"That was fast. What was your time?" I asked her in disbelief.
"I'm at 32 minutes. Kaston can't really keep up anymore." She smiled.
"32, that's impressive Thea. You're slightly above average." I admitted to her. She fixed her doe eyes on me and smiled, looking genuinely happy for herself. I loved her smile, I loved that I could put a smile on her beautiful face. Jakes words suddenly rang through my ears. Should I take what's mine? Was she even mine to take?
She made her way closer. I could feel her wolf pulling at mine, begging him to come out and play. He wanted to play with her badly. But I had the strength to keep my animal behind bars, while Theas ran ramped inside her. Another reason why it was so dangerous being around her. Her wolf has been awake for maybe 2 and a half years while mine has been awake for 37. My 53'rd birthday was around the corner, I chuckled at the thought of turning 53 while looking like this, a 35 year old man.
