Chapter Two
Madison's POV
That night I told Josh that we were going to move. We had finished our dinner and began cleaning up.
"Are we really going to move?" Eyes full of excitement.
The apartment that I was barely able to pay rent for was old and shabby with unstable water pipes and unconditioned running water.
"For the last time, yes. Did you not listen to me?"
He ignored me. "Yay! I don't have to go to school."
I sighed, shaking my head. I should've predicted that this would be his reaction.
"That doesn't mean anything. You'll be going to school, Josh and so will I." Josh pouted. "Stop being a baby and pack your things or tomorrow I'll leave you behind."
"Maddie!!"
I gave him a sharp look. "What did mom teach you?"
"Not to whine and be thankful for what you have," he mumbled.
I nodded. "Now lets hurry so we can have a good night sleep."
"Okay!" He yelled, back to being cheerful again. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
Logan POV
Someone knocked on my door. "Logan? Logan, are you in there?" said dad. I rolled my eyes. No duh, who else? "Open the door. There's something important I need to talk to you about."
Great, he said that to me once. Those words always change my life completely. I opened my door. "What do you want?"
"Can you lower your music? You won't be able to hear me if you don't."
I sighed loudly so he could hear how annoying he was being. He just smiled, like he liked annoying me to death.
"Get to the point, dad. I don't have all day."
"Yes you do. You are grounded for the week. You have plenty of time to listen to your father. Stop distracting me." You're distracting yourself, I thought. "Well, today I went to talk to one of my students and-"
I interrupted him. "How does this involve me?"
He gave me an annoyed look. Touche, man. "Like I was saying, I talked to one of my students. She have her reasons, something that is confidential so you don't need to know about unless you ask her yourself, but anyways she'll start living with us tomorrow."
"What the f-"
"Watch your language, mister."
"Dad, what the heck? Why do you always do that?" I asked, irritated.
He looked puzzled. "What do I do Logan?"
"Always trying to piss me off. Why didn't you think of me? What if I didn't want a total stranger living in the same house as me?"
He sighed. "This is not about you, Logan. You have to grow up and think about others, not just yourself." I glared at him. "Look, tomorrow she is going to move in. Come with me to help her bring her stuff over here."
"Like hell I am," I said, storming off.
'Logan! Logan, where are you going!?" he called behind me.
I grabbed my keys from the counter and drove off into the night. I called some of my friends from school.
"Do you want to come with me to a party?" I asked.
"Sure, dude. Pick me up?"
"Sure," I replied and drove faster and faster, forgetting my dad and my problems for the night.
