Boss: I can only pray that I'll get another chance. Now if you excuse me I need to call my wife since she required me to check in with her four times a day.
(Y/n): "You know what living this lonely life doesn't seem so bad now. It's better than having a clingy and controlling wife." Good luck with your wife. I'll be on my way.
Boss: Have a good night.
(Y/n): You too.
(Y/n) instead of going straight how decided to visit the cafe, he was talking about earlier. He thought that if he was already having problems sleeping there was no harm in staying out later than he usually does.
(Y/n): "It's been such a long time since I've spent time in town during the night. I should spend more time here it's not as busy like it is during the day. Maybe this should become a regular thing. After a hard day's work come here for a drink, relax and go home."
After standing out of the building for a while he decides to enter. A woman in her early twenties is behind the counter.
Cashier: What can I get for you today.
(Y/n) knew what he was going to order and opened his mouth to say but no words came out. He tried once again but still, there was no change. An old man comes from the back and looks at him.
Old man: It's okay sonny. Deep breath and try to speak again.
Following the old man's advice, he was now able to form words.
(Y/n): One large hot chocolate.
Cashier: That will be two dollars and fifty cents.
(Y/n) opens his wallet and takes out a five-dollar bill. He received his change and put it in the tip jar.
Old man: I know my niece is a looker but you shouldn't have a problem speaking to her. She's very kind and patient.
(Y/n): ...
Old man: Cat got your tongue?
(Y/n): No.
Old man: I was just joking with you. There's no need to worry I pride myself on this show being judgment-free. My wife Monica was like you. Quiet, kept to herself, that's why we decided to make a place where everyone could feel comfortable.
(Y/n): Cool.
Old man: Plenty of men find quiet girls attractive so she was pretty much guaranteed a happy life. I can't say the same about women being interested in quiet men though.
(Y/n): "Just rip off the bandaid no sugar coating it. I can respect that. Just wish he wasn't true since there's no way to rebuttal it. Those few experiences I've had have done nothing but prove that they don't. Each one just tends to just ignore my existence."
Old man: I have an idea. Mia are you done with the drink?
Mia: I'm already walking towards the table gramps.
She sets the drink on the table and is about to walk back behind the counter. Her grandpa grabbed a hold of her arm and gestured her to sit.
Old man: We need a woman's opinion about something and seeing as your the only one here.
Mia: I get it.
Old man: Do women find shy men attractive?
Mia: Depends on the individual. I believe that it doesn't matter if they're quiet or confident. What matters is their personality. If he's boring or obnoxious that's a big no.
Old man: How would you describe yourself, young man?
(Y/n): Quiet, great listener, kind to those I'm close to.
Mia: Who are you close to?
(Y/n): Oh, uh my parents.
Old man: Get closer to more people but not in the whore kind of way.
Mia: Grandpa!
Old man: I mean streetwalker.
Mia: Grandpa!
Old man: Losey goosey.
(Y/n): "I don't know why but hearing someone use words like that is funny. Old people have some strange sayings.'
Old man: I'm sure you understand what I mean.
(Y/n): Yeah, it's clear to me what you're saying. Thanks for sharing some of your wisdom with me.
Old man: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to. Mia here doesn't like hearing my advice. She says it's too outdated for modern times.
(Y/n): Well I guess she's missing out. Is a man opening a door outdated?
Mia: No I still like people who do that.
Old man: It's to her convenience that she thinks some stuff is outdated while other things aren't.
(Y/n): There's a lot of people like that.
Hours go by as the three were able to have a conversation. While (Y/n) didn't talk much the rest of the conversation he did enjoy being there. Eventually, (Y/n) had to go home to get prepared for the next day. The time for the convention was getting closer with each passing day.
