Entering the garage, I find Jasper leaning against his car and Kohen talking to him in whispers. Kohen catches sight of me and nudges Jasper, making him turn slightly to glance at me. He then gets in the car and Kohen and I follow his actions.
As we drive to school, Kohen pulls out a mini bottle of vodka, catching Jasper's attention.
"The f*ck man, don't you think you've had enough for a lifetime?" Jasper says angrily.
"Nah"
Kohen moves to drink and Jasper slaps it out of his hand.
"HEY!" Kohen shouts.
"E-f*cking-nough, I'm done watching you do that sh*t." Jasper says sternly.
"F*ck you" Kohen spits out.
"Love you too" Jasper replies, making Kohen scoff.
The rest of the drive consists of Kohen pouting while staring out the window and Jasper putting the music on blast. My earplugs are a real life saver in moments like these.
When we finally pull into school, Jasper parks and I quickly try to get out of the car but my door is locked. I look at Jasper who is already looking at me. I raise my eyebrows and use my thumb to point to the door. Jasper motions for me to take my earplugs out and I reluctantly do so.
"Don't do anything stupid." He says, making me furrow my eyebrows. He hasn't said that to me since the first day, why would he go out of his way to say it again? I open my mouth to speak but he raises his hand, cutting me off. "Just an extra special feeling you're going to do something dumb. Rhys will be watching you."
"Fine" I say and he raises an eyebrow. "I wont do anything stupid."
"Glad to hear it."
With those words, Jasper unlocks the car and I can finally make my escape.
I walk into school with an uneasy feeling. I know Rhys is watching me. My plans are thrown into a bit of a curveball at that fact. I still have an idea, alterations just need to be made so they can be successful.
My unease lifts a bit at the sight of Fay. A smile shines on her face which catches onto mine as well. She really is just a ray of sunshine, despite everything that's happened to her. She has a past which she has been opening up to me about in bits and pieces. I don't pry because I know it takes time, she'll open up whenever she's ready.
Pedicures
Fay holds up her whiteboard with a smile as bright as the sun.
"What?"
She shakes her head and wipes the board down before scribbling some more.
Me and you are getting pedicures after school. I booked the appointment already so you cant say no. Talk to Jasper, Kohen or Rhys because we're going.
"Ummmm"
You cant say no.
"Fine"
She has a look of surprise before a grin quickly replaces it. She pulls me into a hug which I've been getting more used to. Although I'm not a fan of hugs, I know it brings her comfort, so I allow it.
When she pulls away, I give her a smile and open my locker, shoving my books inside. When I close it, I turn my attention back to Fay but before I can say anything, the bell cuts me off.
See you later I sign to her, making her give me a proud smile. She's been teaching me sign language since we find ourselves with a lot of spare time during lunches.
