5:35 p.m.

I braced myself as Jesse stopped at the end of a circular driveway. I really wasn't sure what to expect.

What if these people couldn't control themselves like Jesse and Justin could? What if they tried to kill me because I knew about vampires?

“Jesse I changed my mind” I said, staring at the small house in front of us. “I don’t care why Justin’s obsessed with me anymore” I lied as he started walking towards the house again. Jesse turned to look at me, a smirk on his face.

“Really I don’t” I said, my eyes wide as I attempted to convince him to just forget the whole situation. It was no wonder my mom never tried to put me into acting.

“Listen, Estelle and Francis are only sixty something years old, they’ll understand” Jesse assured me.

“Oh no” I said, my eyes only growing wider. He stopped by the path of the doorway and turned to look back at me again.

“Come on” he said, his brown eyes pleading me over to him. I held my breath and slowly took a step forward.

Suddenly I got an idea. Maybe if I ran away fast enough Jesse wouldn’t bother chasing me.

“Alexandria..don’t even think about it” Jesse said, in a warning tone as if he knew what I was about to attempt. I sucked in a fast breath and darted away from the house. I made it about a foot away from where I was standing before I felt arms wrap around my waist, locking me in the very same spot. Damn vampires..

“Let me go! I don’t wanna go! They’re gonna kill me!” I screeched as I tried to escape Jesse’s grasp in every possible way. I kicked and punched and struggled, but he didn’t even seem to be using much of his strength to hold me back. It was completely useless for me to even be trying to escape.

“Jesse?” a voice asked from behind us. I finally stopped struggling and turned to look. My eyes widened. She was gorgeous! Her black curls fell to just under her shoulders and her eyes were big and brown. Her face was perfect, and she looked at me with concern. That’s when he came out. He was just as gorgeous as she was. His blonde hair and blue eyes were radiant and captured anyones attention at a glance. It was hard to look away.

“Estelle, Francis, this is Alex”

I held my mug of hot chocolate tightly and watched as Jesse explained what had happened with Justin just an hour ago. Estelle turned to look at me. I quietly put my mug down as she slowly approached me. She sat down across from me and eyed me carefully.

How obsessed with you is Justin?” she asked me. I looked up at Francis and Jesse, my face turning a bright shade of pink.

“I’m not sure” I said. I knew that wasn’t the answer she wanted to hear. She had wanted me to explain from my point of view but I didn’t know what to say or where to even begin.

Estelle looked at Francis.

“Has he started following you?” Francis asked. My heart skipped a beat.

What?” I asked, failing at trying to conceal how freaked out I was. I looked at Jesse’s expectant face.

“Not that I know of” I said slouching back in my seat awkwardly.

“He must not be that far along..we need to talk to him about drinking his antidote” Francis said, not taking his eyes off of me.

“From the way he reacted to Alexandria socializing with someone besides him, I’d say he’s gone at least two months without drinking his antidote” Estelle said looking at Francis. It sounded weird to hear someone calling me by my full name when I wasn’t in trouble.

“Well..he didn’t do anything when he saw me with Gracie this morning” I said. Estelle looked at Jesse.

“She’s a friend of Lexi’s” Jesse clarified.

“A female” Francis said to Estelle. She nodded and wrote something down in a notebook I hadn’t even noticed she had. The front door suddenly opened. My heart skipped a beat. Estelle, Francis and Jesse looked at me and then back at the person coming into the house.

Olivia.
