"I need to break into my boss's building. I need to destroy any evidence he has that leads to me. I can't let anyone else coming after Rose to get to me. This cannot happen again." I anxiously got dressed. I huffed in frustration needing help from Nathan because of my wounds.

"I'm fine." I said quickly as I noticed Nathan's worried features. He ignored me walking closer to help me put on my shirt pulling it down my waist. His hands lingered holding me softly in place as I tried to walk away. "You're in no condition-" Nathan began in a calm tone making me pull away.

"I'm fine!" I repeated walking past him towards my nightstand. Wincing as I picked up my heavy gun with my sprained wrist making me let go of my gun back onto the small table. I held my bandaged wrist in pain for a moment filling with annoyance. "At least wait until you've taken some time to recover. It's only been a few days." He continued from behind me.

Ignoring the pain as I picked it up again shoving it in my waistband against the small of my back. "I can't take it easy, Nathan. We have no idea who else he has talked about my rebellion or about Rose with. There is no more time to waste. People will notice that he is dead if they haven't already. They will go through his things to find out what he was previously working on. Which is me." I explained.

I struggled to put on my long black sleeve sweater covering most of my bruises ignoring the ones on my hands and face. My eyes met his trying to walk past him. Letting out a small heavy sigh stepping closer to him staring down at me hesitant to trust me.

"A-After this we will finally be free." I said softly with pleading eyes. I placed my palms against his warm, muscular chest looking up at him. I could see the wheels turning in his head knowing this was a huge risk I was taking especially in my condition. The lawyer in him wanted to argue and insist I stay home which was why I was so shocked to see him comply.

"Alright." Nathan began breaking the short silence. "If this is what it takes to finally have all of this behind us." He said bringing his hand softly to my face. "Thank you-" I began knowing I didn't need his approval to leave but it meant a lot to me that he had my back in this decision.

"But I'm going with you." He cut me off making me look up at him again. My relaxed features morphed into confusion and fear as my eyes tensed pulling away from his hand. "What? N-No-" I tried to protest. "This isn't a debate. I'm going with you and Valerie will stay here with Rose." Nathan pressed making me frown.

"What are you going to do if more people try to go after you? Litigate them? Prosecute them to death?" I spit with tears in my eyes trying to suppress my worry for him and replace it with anger. I couldn't let what happened at his family's home happen again.

Nathan looked down at me with stern eyes as I moved away. "You have no idea how to defend yourself. You have no idea how to hold a gun or use a knife." I stated amused masking my worry for him.

"I seemed to do well enough the other night." He replied making me scoff. He moved closer to me seeing through my irritated demeanor.  "Please, Nathan. I can't worry about your safety." I breathed after a moment.

Looking up at him as my heart ached not being able to do anything to help him fight off the men who gave him his cuts and bruises. Running my thumb gently under his eye and the corner of his mouth.

We walked out of the bedroom into the living room where Rose and Valerie were. Rose played on the floor watching her cartoons. Valerie raked me up and down as she sat on the couch. She stood and walked towards us. "Nate, are you really letting her leave? Look at the state she is in. She can barely stand." Valerie expressed to Nathan as if I wasn't there making me struggle to stand straighter.

"Hey, munchkin." I breathed trying not to wince as I knelt to her height. "Where are you going?" She asked looking up at me with her beautiful doe eyes. "Mommy has to go see a friend of hers." I said making her frown looking past me at Nathan.
