A text tone rather than my alarm scared the shit out of me. It's Sunday morning which means work at the book store.
Michael: Do you want me to pick you up for work? x
I sort of laughed. He knows how close the book store is. Carmel also pays for my monthly bus pass and I can't keep accepting drives.
I quickly texted him back thanking him for the offer but kindly declined.
I change into a black pair of jeans and my TNA sweater. My bus pass sits on my dresser and I quickly shove it in my pocket.
I can hear pots being picked up and set down from downstairs and I quickly rush down to see what the noise is.
"Morning babes." Carmel says in a soft tone. She leans over the stove pouring dry oats into a pot to make oatmeal.
"Morning. How did you sleep?" I asked.
"It was okay. You mom doesn't know how to go in proper sleeping positions so she woke me up. She's spread out like a starfish. Going to work now?" she questioned finally looking at me.
"Yes. I have to tell you something when I get back." I said.
"Okay. You better not be pregnant or eloping." She says sarcastically.
"No, no. Nothing like that." I laughed taking an orange from the fruit bowl.
"I'll see you." she kissed my cheek as I left.
--
"So you're together now?" Val clapped her hands together and smiling.
"Yes, Michael and I are together now." I replied happily.
"I was scared you would somehow find yourself forgiving Jessie and it would just be an awful, endless cycle." She sighed, picking up her mug.
"No. I couldn't go within 3 feet of that asshole without feeling like I was going to throw up. He did come to me not too long ago asking for my forgiveness. I won't have it." I said picking up a box of new books that were shipped in.
"I'm glad you were able to find someone who will treat you correctly. If not, I'll take my 71 year old fists and knock him on his ass." She laughed lightly. I could sense half sarcasm and half of her being complexity honest.
"How's your grandson?" I asked changing the subject.
"He's growing up so fast." Her eyes lit up at the mention of him.
"I'd love to meet him someday. You should bring him by." I said smiling back at her. I loved to see the older woman happy. Sometimes I wish she was my grandmother. Her grandson doesn't know how lucky he is.
"I'll bring him by, my son too." her voice rang.
--
I got home immediately dragging myself to my room. I was on my feet all day placing books in shelves. The store was far busier than it was usually but there was some convention going on in my town close to the shop so it we were ready for customers.
Michael texted me a few times on my lunch saying how Calum yelled at him for ditching their guys day once again.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Ok..more than a pang. Calum was there first and that made him very possessive over his best friend.
Calum has to realize that I'm not in any way attempting to "steal" Michael being jeopardy to their friendship.Michael's name flashed across the screen.
"Hello?" I answered in a whisper.
"Why are we whispering?" He responded in a low voice.
"Uh, I'm not sure actually." I shot back in my normal speaking voice.
"Makes sense. Do you want to go to the movies?" He asked.
"Is that our thing?"
"What do you mean by thing?" he questioned.
"I don't know..couples usually have their own special occasions or kinds of dates that they go on." I sang.
"Well..it could be if you wanted too." He said. I could hear his smile in his voice.
"Have you told your moms about us?" Michael asked.
"I was planning on it but Grace doesn't come home until 5 and Carmel went to run errands." I said picking at my nails.
"Ah good. I'll be at your house in about 13 minutes." He said as I heard the car door close.
"That's very specific." I said.
"Well Kit, that's what Google Maps said..without traffic. I'll see you soon." he said.
"See you."
--
"What are we seeing?" I asked him as we got into the theatre.
"I was thinking about The Kingsman. I saw it with Luke but it was so good, I'm willing to see it twice, especially with a hot date." Michael told me giving me a smirk.
"Guess you had two hot dates." I said teasing him.
"You think Luke is hot?" Michael's smile faded.
"He's definitely attractive but that means nothing, don't worry."
"He'll steal you from me. He thinks you're cute and he's extremely charming, no homo" he laughed at his last statement.
"Are you Michael Clifford, jealous of your best friend?" I asked tucking my fingers under his chin.
"Pfft, I hate Luke Hemmings. He sucks. Definitely not my best friend." Michael laughed walking up to the food stand.
"Ah right, I forgot your best friend hates me." I frowned slightly, dropping my hand.
"No, no. Calum is just..possessive I guess? Maybe he's gay. Who knows." We laughed. Calum definitely did not come off as gay.
"I get it. You two are close. He was here first. I'm not trying to get in the way." I told him honestly.
"I know you aren't." he gave me a warm smile and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

A/N
Hey guys :))
I think I'm going to delete Palace and just focus on Movies. I'll start my Luke fic after I'm done this one. Sorry if you were expected heavy makeout sessions. Camp moved so fast so I'm taking this one slower.
luv you. xx
