The girl in the red outfit tilted her head. But sure enough she nodded. "Y-yeah... The other kids don't like me. They think it's weird that I have two moms. They call us rude names." She quietly explained.
Qiqi didn't know what that meant. Or why it should matter how many moms the girl had. When she looked over to the other kids on the play structure she could hear them giggling.
'Look at her... now she's talking to herself.'
'It's her parents. Their weirdness is rubbing off on her.'
'She's so strange. Look how she's dressed.'
Their comments bounced off Qiqi. They weren't nice things, and she couldn't figure out why they would say them.
"What's your name?" The little girl asked Qiqi.
"Qiqi."
"That's a pretty name. I'm Klee." Klee smiled. Qiqi sat there, and continued digging her hole. "What're you digging for?"
Qiqi shrugged. "I... I'm not sure." She really couldn't remember why she started digging in the first place.
Klee picked up another one of the shovels and started digging with her. "Let's look for treasure!" Qiqi nodded and the two of them began digging their own separate holes in the ground.
Klee had a small smile on her face which Qiqi noticed. It made the cold feeling in her body go away.
After about another fifteen minutes, Klee stood up with her hands on her hips. "We did it! We got the treasure." She proudly said. Qiqi sat with a golden marble in her hand which Klee claimed as the treasure. "Hey Qiqi, do you want to be my first friend?"
Qiqi doesn't remember if she had a friend or not before. Her head was foggy. Still she nodded. Klee jumped up and down. "Yay, oh let me introduce you to my moms!" Klee motioned her over and she ran out of the playground.
Klee's house was across the street from the playground. Qiqi couldn't keep up with Klee's energy as she sprinted across. Looking both ways before doing so. Still, they safely made it.
She took out a key from her pocket and unlocked the door, stepping inside. "Mom, Mommy!" Klee said, sprinting inside. Qiqi stepped into the house and took a short look around. Everything was neatly kept, and it smelled like flowers.
"Welcome back dear, how was the playground?" A blonde woman said, leaning down to give Klee a hug. The little girl smiled, knowing that it had been a rough start. Her parents have no idea of the things the other kids say to Klee, and that's because Klee doesn't want them to worry.
"I had a lot of fun, I brought a friend with me! Her name is Qiqi!" Klee pointed over to where Qiqi was standing. Jean and Lisa both turned their attention to where she was pointing. They both shared a glance, and a nod. There was something strange about where she was pointing, but they kept quiet.
"Hello there Qiqi." Lisa greeted Qiqi. She didn't say anything back. "Klee, why don't you and your new friend go play in your room?" She suggested.
Klee's eyes brightened, "Yeah! Come on Qiqi!" She ran up to her room. Qiqi noticed that when the woman in purple was talking to her, her eyes weren't directly on her. But looking past her. Or maybe through her. But she didn't think much of it.
Klee flung open her room door. There was so much red, Qiqi didn't know where to start. Klee put her hat up onto her nightstand, and sat on the floor. "Ooh, I have these really cool stuffed animal toys. I call them dodocos!" She rummaged through one of the toy bins.
After a few moments she tossed one over to Qiqi, and Klee took another one in hand. "Let's pretend that we fight bad guys with them! I want to give mine fire powers, what about you?"
