I've always known what would happen in this story in the end, I've just never actually finished it. So maybe I will soon? Who knows. Knowing my track record, it's unlikely.... But I can dream, right?

It had been just over a week, she thought. She wasn't sure how long it had been for her friend. 
                          
Well - friend was a strong word, perhaps. They'd never spoken. He was bound at the wrists like she was, but she'd never seen his face, or heard his voice. Whoever their captor was kept a burlap sack tied over his head at all times - save for the two times a day that he was dragged out of the room, presumably to be fed.  
                          
She had no idea who he was, yet she still felt a sort of fondness toward the man. He felt familiar in some way. Safe. Although, honestly, he could be anyone. A serial killer, for all she knew. Was she going mad? She supposed that being trapped in such a small space for this long would do that. 
                          
She hadn't just been sitting idly, though. She'd been paying attention. Most days, it was just the same captor who walked down the corridor outside her cell. He would place a small metal tray containing some mystery soup on the floor for her, and then force her friend to his feet before dragging him away. She would eat her food - initially, she refused to eat, but after a few days came round to the idea that there wasn't going to be a vegan option anytime soon - and about twenty minutes later, her friend would return. They would always lock the door behind them.
                          
 Sometimes she could hear lighter footsteps following behind the two men. A woman? or even a child? 
                          
She was keeping quiet for the moment. But she was coming up with a plan.
