Goldenstreak rushed to Duskpatch. Then to her great surprise, he jumped up. Goldenstreak stepped back in shock. Then noticed Crowtalon, Blossomdapple, and Ashflower mourning. She realized they weren't mourning Duskpatch. Goldenstreak purred in relief and licked Duskpatch's ear.

"I'm so glad you're safe!" She exclaimed.

"I was thinking the same thing!" He responded. Then the joy in his eyes quickly faded.

"I went to find you, Firetuft wanted to come with me. The fire got to bad, and, and I lost him. I was lucky enough to get out but Firetuft..." Duskpatch's voice trailed off and he looked away. Goldenstreak gasped and looked around to see Firetuft's burnt body near by with several cats mourning next to him. Goldenstreak wailed and ran over to her friend. Goldenstreak looked at him with sadness. Firetuft's usual bright and mischievous eyes were dull and lifeless. His sleek orange fur was now dirty and burned. Goldenstreak bowed her head next to the tom.

"I'll miss you so much." She whispered. Smokefur padded over. He whispered something as well and Goldenstreak felt sadness for Firetuft's brother.

Goldenstreak turned away and saw another miserable face. Shininglight. Goldenstreak's heart jumped when she remembered how her friend and Firetuft had recently become fond of each other, no doubt future mates. Goldenstreak rushed to comfort her friend. Shininglight's mate and father had been killed in the awful fire. Shininglight's eyes were filled with sadness and pain. Goldenstreak felt so bad for her friend. She padded back to Duskpatch.

"Poor Shininglight." She said. Duskpatch nodded.

"She will feel very alone now." He agreed. Goldenstreak thought for a moment.

"I'll do my best to make sure she doesn't feel alone." She declared. Duskpatch purred at her optimism. Goldenstreak looked back at her friend and went over to talk to her.
