5:30. 5:30 exactly. That's when I wake up every morning. Nothing new today, right? Wrong. I performed my morning tasks as normal. Get up, shower, brush my teeth, get dressed, do my hair. You know that, we know that, I'm literally telling this story to myself. Might as well stop narrating and get in the moment.

I tied my shoes, starring at the laces for a moment, before standing up and walking into the bathroom. I grabbed the brush, moving my hair into the position it's always in. Eventually, I was satisfied and I walked into the kitchen. I picked up a granola bar and grabbed my keys by the door.

Stepping into the car I sighed trying to brush off the usual morning anxiety. I closed the door with a slam and buckled up, starring at the steering wheel. "Happy Monday, (Y/N)" I muttered to myself. I turned the keys and started driving to the place I always do.

I walked through the halls towards my office. Opening the door I saw everything where it needed to be. I sighed in relief. I don't know why but knowing that everything is in the right place always made me feel better. I took off my blazer, draping it over the back of my chair. I pulled a notepad out of my work bag and took a blue ballpoint pen from the small cup on my desk.

I was finishing up some documents from the last case on the computer when Chief Abrahams knocked on the door and stepped in. "Hi (L/N)." I smiled at the woman in front of me. "Chief! To whom do I owe the pleasure?" I joked considering the two of us we're close. She placed a file on my desk. "Technically speaking, a white Caucasian male, age 31 by the name of Adam White, and a kidney stealing murderer. You're into this weird shit, right?"

I picked up the folder, skimming over the words. "Missing organs? Heard of that. The stuff sells on the black market." The blonde in front of me tsked at my statement. "That's what Landry thought, but why take just the kidneys?" I sat there thinking for a moment. "Maybe somebody needs a transplant and can't get one..?" "I'll have Jacobson run it by the hospital, I assume you'll do your thing?"

I closed and put down the folder "Yeah, I can run by the scene on Wednesday. For now, I have to finish up this paperwork for the Elderwood Homicide." She nodded. "Keep up the good work, (L/N)." I smiled at her. "Will do, Chief."

The lady walked off while I placed my pen back into the cup and put my notepad into one of the drawers of my desk. I made sure to line up the folder just right so I wouldn't forget about it. I straightened my desk a bit before smiling.

"Perfect!"
