-A reporter? That is amazing Vienna- Dan said, -Well I am a doctor here at Gotham, a surgeon.- the doctor went to get a glass near the bar leaving Jason and me alone for a couple seconds
-He will become one of those lousy third rated villains- sneakered Jason
-Shut up- I snarled just before Dan met with us again
-And what do you do Mr. Todd?- Dan asked serving himself a Martini
-He is a businessman- I interrupted
-You take after your old man then, just like Bruce Wayne. Like father like son- chuckled Dan
Jason wasn't laughing nor agreeing so I had to speak once again, -Yeah, he is the owner of the Iceberg lounge. Isn't that right, Babe- I turn to look at him with a fake smile on my lips and a menacing gaze
Jason looked at me with surprise in his face and a terrified smile was drawn on his lips, -That's right- I turned back to Dan and smiled a bit nicer, -I bought the place some weeks ago-
-Right weeks ago- I repeated an emphasis on weeks ago.
-Well that is amazing- intervened Dan a couple of guys then joined us to greet Dan and that was the cue for Jason to pull me away from them so we could be alone for a moment.
He straightened his vest before looking at me in the eye, -I..How did you..-
-Tatiana told me- I answer crossing my arms over my chest, -Were you at least planning on telling me?-
-Yes- he groaned hiding his hands on his pockets, -Once you were back in Metropolis-
I let my arms fall to my sides and gently rub my temples, -What? Why?-
Jason rolled his eyes, -I don't know-
-What do you mean you don't know?- growling I fidgeted with my dress
-That I don't know- he said louder this time
-Did you think I was going to be mad or what?-
Jason ran his good healthy hand over his hair, -You are mad-
-I am mad because I found out thanks to a friend that my boyfriend owns one of the biggest if not the biggest casino in Gotham City!- I yell but thank God the music is loud so people can't hear us argue, I grab the ring of my nose and sigh, -You know what... lets just forget it. I want to have fun so I will enjoy my reunion you can brood in a table if you want...I'll get you an aspirin or something- I start walking away when Jason reaches out for my wrist but I shake him off, -I won't be long.- and so I leave and walk up to the dance floor where I spot Tatty dancing with a handsome man.
When she meets my gaze she mouths Bradock, and gives me two thumbs up before the man turns back to her and spins her around the dance floor. Dancing seemed fun, I sighed and went through my purse looking for the aspirin. I could have come alone, I didn't want Jason to hurt himself more but God! Now I wont be able to have fun because I just had an argument with him. Well this is just great. I stomp my foot on the floor when someone clears his throat behind me. -Oh shit! Dan you scared me- I say hugging my purse
-Didn't mean to- he apologized, -Why are you not dancing? If I remember correctly you love dancing-
I chuckle, -I still do...but you know Jason can't dance right now- I gesture towards Jason who's eyes are fixed on Dan
-Let me invite you to dance- he offered
I giggled nervously and took a step back, -I don't think that is a good idea-
-Why not?-
-Dan I have a boyfriend and right now...we are in troubled waters so I have to refuse- I explained placing my hand over his shoulder, -But thanks, you are always so kind.-
-I don't think you should be with him- Dan said clearing his throat, that stopped me in my tracks and made me walk back towards him with a raise eyebrow.
-Excuse me?-
-You shouldn't be with him. He seems dangerous-the blond said holding me by the shoulders, -Those don't seem like motorcycle bruises and he is the owner of a money laundering casino that belonged to Cobble-pot. That is dangerous. I know I was clingy back in high school- At least he accepts it, -But I will worry about you, Vienna you were my first love and I am worried about you-
With kindness I stroke a side of Dan's face, -And I am honored to have been your first love but Dan, Jason...- he is dangerous, -he means no harm and as far as I know the Iceberg lounge was abandoned after Cobble-pot disappeared some months ago.-
-Vienna-
-Dan you have nothing to worry about me- I assure him and take back my hands, -It was great seeing you, I hope we can keep in touch-
-Don't be a stranger, Isley- he called out as I walked over towards Jason with a glass of water and the aspirin.
The ride back to the apartment was awfully quiet Jason didn't speak unless he needed to give directions to the cab and me, I just stared out the window the whole horrible ride. The sun never seemed to shine brighter than street lamps so Gotham was rarely lighted. Now as the sun slept the darkness was overwhelming and it no longer felt nice to have the darkness around when I used to live here it seemed so normal, so much like home but now it felt different as if Gotham itself wanted me out of there, kicking me out with the dark truth of my relationship with Jason and the truth of his alter ego. I wasn't welcome in Gotham anymore, that much I know now.
-I should sleep on the couch- I yawned once in my pj's and walking towards the living room
-What? No- argued Jason trying taking his shirt off, -Why?-
I rubbed my eyes and blinked many times before focusing on Jason's face, -I don't want to accidentally hit you while I sleep, besides you say I move a lot.- I kept on walking towards the living room and after I was there I searched for blankets under the tv bureau and found them. I laid them over the couch before putting my hair in a bun and afterwards tucking myself in on the leather couch. My skin stuck to the leather as my face sweat for the warmth of my breath so I was then lying facing the roof. I just wanted to fall asleep and get over with this night and the sooner I get my interview the faster I can get back home and my mind in place. Oh my God, I can't believe I called Metropolis my home...I have changed, I am no longer a Gotham citizen, I am a ray of metropolis sunshine. I don't know what to think of myself.
After I had fallen asleep Jason crept into the living room and carried me to bed laying my gently on my side of the bed before he finally fell asleep his left hand gently caressing my own, even as I slept he slithered a small platinum bracelet unto my wrist.
