Months had gone by and working at the Daily Planet was always an adventure. I had barely talked with Jason which made me sad but I had to, he wouldn't leave Gotham and if he had asked me to marry him I wouldn't have been able to stay either, there was no possible future with Jason, no matter how many scenarios I ran in my head there was not a single one in which we could work as a couple. But as time went by I was getting better at not dwelling in the handsome blue greenish eyed prince of Gotham. I had so many stories from work Halloween, Thanksgiving, and well soon enough Christmas.
Until one day when I was happily reading the news paper and also hearing Cat Grant talk over in the TV, I heard a knock on the apartment's door. I walk up to the door and peak through the watching hole just to see the mail man. I open the door, -Hi?-
The man looks at me then at the letter in his hand, -Are you Vienna Isley?-
-Yeah, that's me- I answer cautiously, -Why didn't you let the letter downstairs?
He hands me the letter, -Because it says to be given personally by the mail man, so take it-
I grab the letter from his hands and he turns to leave without saying goodbye, -How rude. I guess Gotham has more manners than Metropolis- I close the door and return to my seat, my coffee mug still warm so I drop the letter in the table just to stare at it, it was plain white with a black ribbon,
-That is a nice letter- Kara said appearing from her room, -Who sent it?- she was dressed in a blue knee length dress with needle heels
-Damn, where are you going dressed like that?- I evade the question by asking her a question
Kara throws her arms over her head in exasperation, -Mrs. Grant wants to take a christmas photo, so.. gotta dress nicely- she rolled her eyes her bright blonde hair was curled instead of her usual silky mane, I catch a glimpse of my reflection in one of the tiny mirrors decorating the fridge just to see my strawberry blond hair a total mess.
-Good luck, Kara. Remember to smile- I add taking a sip of my coffee
One day, after taking a shower and putting on my pajamas I am laying on my bed playing with the letter on my hands and when I finally decide to open it, it takes me several reads to understand what it is.
"Dear Vienna Isley,
You are cordially invited to the Wayne's Foundation Gala, Christmas edition,
on December the 15th.
With its elegant presentation in Metropolis Grand Plaza Events Salon.
With this invitation you will be given authorization to walk into the gala.
The dress code is formal long dress etiquette for women and Tuxedo for men.
Waiting upon your attendance,
Wayne Enterprises"
From behind the Gala invitation a small handwritten note fell and I instantly recognized the handwriting.
"Vienna, I hope you don't mind, but Bruce says I need a plus one,
and I have the guts to formally invite you to the Gala. Just text me your answer
Jason"
-He has to be joking- I say rolling my eyes and grabbing my phone I wanted to be like whatever but I was freaking out. I had never been to a gala before and this was not just a random Gala it was the Wayne's Foundation Gala one of the most exclusive parties of the whole world and I had been invited, obviously by Jason but this was an opportunity I could not miss. If I was lucky I might encounter some pretty famous people. So I accepted Jason's invitation over a text and then the problem came to my mind, I didn't have a dress and this event was in three days. Leave it to Jason to tell me everything last minute.
-Please, Mr. White- I begged to my superior, -I can finished my article about the Museum today and then on the 15th I can take the day-
Perry white knitted his brows together, he was a tallish dark skinned man who was a bit fat. He was an amazing reporter slash detective according to him, -Why are you asking me to give you a day off, Vienna?-
I had asked to call me Vienna never my last name because the more people say it the more nervous I get about they figuring who my sister was I mean we had taken all the precautions but I still had my concerns.
-I was invited to the gala- I whisper to the man
White turns to me, -You were what?-
-I was invited- I repeat trying to be really secret about it, -I plan on going to see if Diana Prince is there, to ask her some questions about the Museum-
The editor in chief grabbed his beard, -That is like a solid bet- he sighed, -You are allowed to go and not come to work-
I smile excitedly, -Thank you Mr. White!- I walk out of the office as recollected as I can because the last thing I need is one of the other reporters knowing what I will be doing this Friday.
Kara was seated in the couch the purple quilt over her legs a glass of wine between her fingers as she watch me model some of her long dresses and a pair that Ivy sent me which she said were plant made pretty obvios but I was wearing one of Kara's it was pastel pink it was long sleeved and the only skin visible was my neck, face and hands. -I don't think my hair goes with the dress-
-What do you mean? Strawberry blonde looks fantastic with pink- Kara argued
-Yeah, but not this pink- I explain, -I'll try the one my sister.... in law sent.- I walk back into my room and get rid of the pink dress
-Which one?- I hear Kara ask from the living room
-The sky blue one- I shout back. Finally when I understood how the hell to fit into it I walkout into the living room holding the chest part up because I couldn't tie it from the back, -A little help Kara, please-
Kara lets the glass over the coffee table and comes to my aid by tying the back of the dress.
-Oh my God! You have to wear this one- Kara smiles as she walks back to admire the dress.
I turn to look in the mirror behind me it is a very beautiful dress and I look stunning in it, if I say so myself. The dress was a light blue color with spaghetti straps which also dropped and decorated my bare back the long skirt with a split front it reached the floor even when I wore the heels. This was the dress I was going to wear with a white fur coat that Lois had lent me and a pair of silver colored high heels. Now I just had to get my hair done and make, and my dear roommate was the one who tamed my mane by ironing it into perfection and did my make up because I had no idea how to.
