XXIV: tricks pt 2

                                    

                                          
"This is it Hawkmoth. Your going to win this time."

Ladybug led Chat noir to a large empty warehouse near the edge of Paris, in the poor part of city. 
"M'Lady! Where are we going?" Chat laughed, following his love to wherever she was taking him. 
"Shh, you'll scare them!" She said as she landed on the roof, pointing to an opening . Chat landed beside her and gasped when he saw what she was talking about. The roof of the building had caved in and inside, was a small oasis, with ducks swimming in the water that seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. 
                          
"Its- beautiful." He said. Ladybug waved him over to a skylight in the roof and hopped through, motioning for him to follow. The scene was even more beautiful from inside, grass had grown through the concrete of the floor and a tree had grown too. Fireflies danced through the air, lighting up the room, even though it was well past their season. The ducks seemed to laugh as they played in the pond that had been created from the constant rain. The world around him blurred, it was just him- and her- and this. Oh, how he loved her. 
                          
Chat looked at ladybug and smiled. She was unbelievably beautiful in the light that was cast off the pool. Her hair shimmered like a night sky full of stars, her skin porcelain, flush with color and light. She was perfect. Absolutely perfect. But ladybug didn't look back at him. She was looking behind him, to a figure leaning on a pillar still supporting the roof. 
"Bugaboo?" He followed her eyes, and was instantly filled with fear. It was Volpina. 
                          
Chat immediately pulled out his baton, and moved in front of ladybug, protecting her. Volpina chuckled silently, and moved her flute through the air, mouthing words. Ladybug stepped closer to Chat and placed her hands on his shoulders. He hated the dangerous sensation that flowed through him as she slid her hands down to his elbows, lowering his arms from the fighting stance he was in. 
                          
"Dont worry Chaton, she wont hurt us." Ladybug whispered, coming in front of him and gently taking the baton from his hands. "Its alright." She smiled. "H- how do you know that. Thats all she's ever done." Chat said, growling at her. " Because." Ladybug said as she placed one of her hands on his cheek. "Im here. You're safe with me." Chat's stance relaxed. 
                          
"Im.... Safe" Suddenly the scene around him faded into reality. The sparkling pool drained and the trees fell apart. Only the hole in the roof remained. His eyes snapped open, fear returning to them as he saw the room crumble into dust. 
                          
He had been tricked. 
                          
Before he could react, ladybug grabbed his face and kissed him again. Again it was different than the past. The taste was bitter and hot, it clouded his mind and his legs felt weak. His eyes rolled back and Chat Noir collapsed before the illusion had even fully dissipated. His lips still pink and face still flushed.
                          
"Ladybug." Volpina said. "You are no longer needed." Ladybug bowed her head and she too, dissipated. "He's all your's Hawkie." She said as hawkmoth emerged from the shadows. 
                          
"He's out?" Hawkmoth asked. "Yep. The magic will last as long as I'm transformed. Ladybug is on her way as well. 
                          
"Excellent. How did you pull it off?" He asked. 
"For Chat? Please, he was so convinced by my fake ladybug I didn't even need an Illusion."
                          
"Impressive." He said. "My biggest enemy. Finally defeated." 
"Don't get too cocky yet, it's usually when you think you've won that you fail." Volpina said. 
Hawkmoth glared at her. "Hey, just trying to help" she said. 
"I don't need your help." He scolded. Turning from Volpina, he kneeled by Chat's body. 
"The great Chat Noir has finally fallen." Hawkmoth said and he slid the ring off of chats finger. There was a green flash of light and Adrien appeared, along with Plagg.
                          
Hawkmoth kicked his son to the wall, Adrien's body crashed into a pillar and he lay crumpled on the concrete. without even checking to see who it was, hawkmoth held the ring up to the moonlight, examining his prize. Volpina gasped. 
"Hawkmoth." She said cautiously. "What." He snapped at her, furious that she ruined his moment. 
                          
"You might want to check who it is before you kick someone half-way across the room."
"What?" He said, and turned to look at him. 
                          
"No. My son"  Hawkmoth stumbled and fell to his knees. He looked from his son to the ring in his hands. Moments passed as he contemplated. Volpina couldn't tell what was going through his mind, but it didn't seem good. 
                          
A single tear fell when he stood again. Sliding Chat Noir's ring on his finger he said "He will forgive me when this is over." Hawkmoth looked to Volpina. "Bring in Ladybug."

Ladybug raced across rooftops, just barely dodging the flaming meteors falling from the sky. She couldn't even tell where she was going through the smoke. Where were all the people?  Not a single person was out on the street, even though she heard screaming. She had been running for hours, she had to be by the outskirts of town by now. If not already in the suburbs. Through the smoke and fire she ended up in an abandoned wearhouse. Ladybug knew that being in a building was probably not the safest place to be but it seemed she had no where else to go. She trudged over to the corner and plopped down on the floor. She was exausted. If not for the intense amount of adrenaline flowing through her she would have collapsed ages ago. Ladybug closed her eyes and rested her head against the wall, breathing deeply. 
                          
After what seemed to be ages, the screaming and the crashing stopped. Ladybug opened her eyes but- did she open them? It was pitch black. She couldn't tell the difference between when her eyes were open or when they were closed. Did the building cave in? If it had she didn't hear it. Ladybug stood up, placing her hands on the wall behind her for support. 
                          
"H- hello?" Ladybug said. She didn't know why she said it, there was probably nobody around to answer her.  The super heroin scooted her way along the walls until she came across what seemed to be a door or a garage of some kind. Groping around, she came across the handle, She lifted it up, ready to see light again- 
                          
It was locked. Why would it be locked?
