"These rats are really everywhere." Regulus groaned annoyed while kicking at one that was sniffing around his feet. His hands carried a wooden box, which he placed on the table in front of Estelle, who looked at him confused."What do you want me to do with that?" she asked batting her lashes at him, waiting for an answer.
"I secured it with a password," he tipped the front with the tip of his wand and the box started glooming slightly blue, "occasus."
With a soft click the top opened and he smiled at her proudly. Estelle frowned confused and raised an eyebrow awaiting an explanation from him. Her expression made him laugh, before he cleared his throat and start explaining.
"To put the vial with the Basilisk venom in. The box won't open unless the person knows the password."
"The venom?"
"Yes. I told you I've seen the journal and I've also seen your notes yesterday. I think it could work to destroy a horcrux."
"You looked at my notes for seconds."
"I've got that perfect brain, remember?"
She scoffed at his praise and continued skimming over the book pages in front of her. The previous day wouldn't leave her head. She had let her guard slip. She let him see her vulnerability at the lake, but they needed the bracelet. Estelle was still fighting with herself about forgiving him and being mad at him.
"I don't think that the venom itself would do much damage. It needs to break through the surface and destroy the horcrux from the inside out."
"And you happen to know that, because?" he let the end of the sentence hang in the air and caught an angry stare from Estelle.
"Because that's how I would secure something like a horcrux. Or are you trying to waste the venom with pouring it over the medallion?"
Regulus didn't answer, but carefully placed the vial into the box and let it snap shut again. Then he pulled a book towards himself and saw that the page on weapons made by goblins was opened.
"We need something goblin forged. Here," he pushed the book towards Estelle and pointed at a paragraph for her to read, "A weapon made from goblins only absorbs what strengthens them. So if we would put the venom on one of those, we would have a weapon to destroy the medallion."
"And do you happen to have one of those weapons?" She asked him already having her head ten steps further and imagining Voldemort bursting to pieces as soon as they would've destroyed the horcrux. At least that's what she thought would happen.
"No, but I know who has," he cleared his throat and licked his lips nervously before continuing, "Bellatrixs dagger."
Estelle could feel his unease after he spoke the words. Although he had told her that he wanted to see Voldemort loose, Bellatrix was his family and after everything he did she still wasn't sure if she could trust him completely.
"Then we have to steal it." Estelles voice sounded way more confident, than she felt.
"She keeps it either by her side or locked in her house. There's no way to come close enough to her to check if she carries it."
"We have to." The determination in her voice send shivers down Regulus spine and he couldn't help but reach for her arm, to force her to look at him.
"If she notices, my family will kill me." Although he tried to overplay it, Estelle could still hear the quaver of his voice.
"I'll do it. I can't wait to see her face when she finds out, that we killed the Dark Lord with her dagger and that it was me, who stole it from her."
