"Raven?"I came out of the twins' nursery."I just tucked them in.Can we talk outside?"He nodded and we came out to the porch."It has been six months."I nodded."I am fully aware."
"You cry yourself to sleep after you tuck in all four of them."I nodded."Nothing new,Gid."He scoffed."I may not like the guy but I told you way before,kids needs their dads."
"I can't.He loves Avalon and Asher but he doesn't like Victoria and Victor?!That's bullshit!""But you still wear his ring!"I groaned."Because I still love him like an idiot!"
"At least he loves you back!You didn't even talk to him as far as Lux told me!"I rolled my eyes."Excuse me if I couldn't listen to his speech about how he doesn't like kids!"
Our neighbor,Ms.Watty came out."Is everything ok,dove?"I smiled."Yes,Ms.Watty.We're fine.""Good,good."She went back inside and I turned to Gideon.
"It's almost 10pm.Go home.Esther must be worried about you.""She knows I came here."I sighed."You want coffee,because I need a drink after you."
"I'm not that bad."
Since I'm not breastfeeding this time,I can drink whatever the fuck I want.I got myself a glass of red wine and a coffee for Gideon."Here."He took it.
"Leave the kids to us and go.At least to check around.See what is going on?If you still think the same way you do now,I won't say a word."I sighed.
"Do you have any idea how many people I have killed in these past 6 months?""You killed people?!"He yelled in a whisper."Well,duh!My brothers,my fiancée...They are powerful people."
He left after trying to convince me again.He failed.I took the wine bottle entirely and poured myself another glass.I don't care who sees me cry at this point.
I don't know how long it has been but I cried.I felt someone sit next to me."Gideon,I told you.I can't do it.Ok?I can't.I can't go there and listen to the man I love tell me that he doesn't want our kids.I can't handle that."
"10...9...8..."I realised the owner of the voice.I looked up to see my dad."3...2...1...Happy new year,Maria."I forgot about the date!I completely forgot about the date!
"Happy new year,dad."I leaned on his shoulder."What are you doing here?""Running,hiding...The usual."He sighed."La Luna Vitales don't run.They don't hide.Whatever it is,you can handle it.Even if it is with that bastard,Sorin."
I giggled."Dad,you heard me.I can't do it."He got up and took my hand."Come on."I put the wine glass down and went inside with him."What?"
"I want to see them.All four of them."I gulped."I'm sorry I didn't tell you."He shrugged."It wasn't a night you'd consider 'normal'.I understand."
I showed all four of them.Starting with Asher,ending with Victoria.We came back to the living room and he sat down at the L-couch."Sit."I sat down next to him and he put a pillow on his lap.
I laid down as I understood he wanted me to."You're still just a kid,Maria.You just turned 21."I nodded."I know.""Four kids at the age of 21,that's big.I only had two when I was 21."
"Lorenzo and Rexford."He nodded."Dad?"We both stayed silent."Dad,where is mom?""She's on the run but my men has been looking for her.As well as Lorenzo's and Einar's."
I nodded."Who else knows you are here?""No one.I came on my own.My guards are surrounding the town,besides them,no one knows."I sighed in relief."Why are you here,dad?"
He started playing with my hair."I missed my daughter."A few tears silently fell down."I missed you too,dad."
Turns out we both ended up falling asleep on the couch.I only woke up to the twins crying.I put a blanket over dad and then I checked the twins.I fed them and changed their diapers.
I tucked them back in and came to find my dad awake."There is a guest room at the-"He stood up.
"I didn't come here to stay.I came here to take you five back.If you don't want to see him or you don't want him to see you,that can be arranged.Just come back."
"Dad...""Please,Maria,this town is not going to be enough.You were born for bigger things.You have a gallery as you always wished to have!You can't throw it all away!"
"Lux is handling the gallery for me.I can still draw and I might be heartbroken but I know I'll be fine.I have been here before.Years ago!But still!"
"I'm taking you to Barcelona.I know that you know Spanish.You will be fine.I will come over every month to check up on you,I won't tell anyone.Alright?"
"Dad...If I leave here,I will go back to my home.To Los Angeles!To my friends!To Sorin!And I can't do the last one.It's either here or there."
"Then I'll take you to LA.I'll make sure he doesn't notice anything.I'm more powerful than him even though he is almost just as much as powerful as I am."
Now,that's an offer I cannot decline.Kids are missing their daycare friends.They miss Elijah,they miss Kane,they miss Winnie.I miss Lux,I miss Xan,I miss Sorin,I miss the gallery...
The list of things all of us misses goes a long way.I had to accept.
"That one,I can accept.But I want to be close to the gallery.Gallery is already close to the daycare.Kids will go to the daycare they used to go to.And I want to talk with Lux."
"Lux knows I'm here.I've been coming here,to this town,for months.I may be powerful but it took a lot of courage to finally come to you."
"You knew?All these months?"He nodded."I went to Lux when I heard you were gone again.I didn't torture her,by the way.I told her that I could help.I told her my honest intentions and she gave me the location."
I nodded."Ok.Well it is 7 in the morning,it can take me a few hours to pack."
"Leave it all here,for all I care.I already got everywhere ready.Your new place,your clothes and needs...Of course,I handled everything about the twins too.Well for all four of them."
"But you said-"He cut me off."Lux figured you wouldn't want my first offer.I was ready for all of them.You know,just in case."I sighed and put on a weak smile."Thanks,dad."
I hugged him and then got the kids ready.His guards helped me with the kids and a few stuff that I had to take.Around 10,we were ready to leave.That's when I saw Gideon walking towards my house.
"Raven?"I sent my dad away as I was holding Victor and he was holding Victoria."What is going on?"I sighed."My...My father came last night.After you left,of course.He uhm...He made me an offer I couldn't refuse."
"What offer?!Are you leaving again?!"I nodded."I'm going back to LA.But don't worry,I'll be fine.Kids will be fine.""Wh-What about Sorin?"I shrugged.
"Dad said he got it all under control.""I thought your dad had died."I shook my head."My biological father.The man I thought he was my dad,wasn't my dad.He is."
"I'm coming with you.You are always surrounded by these gangsters and I'm sick of it."I rolled my eyes."He is the Don!Well,he was.Now,my brother Lorenzo is the Don.Anyways,he is more powerful than Sorin."
"Sorin is already so fucking powerful!"I groaned."Gideon,please,calm down.I just want to go back to my home.To Los Angeles.I'll send you my adress,ok?"
"I'm coming with you!"I shook my head."Nope.You're not.I'm sorry,Gid.""At least,let me say goodbye to all of them."I nodded.
Gid came to the hangar with us and then left after saying goodbye.We got in the jet and we were in LA in a few hours.Before we left the jet,dad stopped me.
"This is where we separate,Maria."I sighed."Ok.Thank you,dad,for doing all of this for me.""My pleasure,Maria."
We came to the gallery with a subtle car.Then the car went to the back gate and the guard led us upstairs.
Turns out,dad had bought the entire building and made it mine.I live at the top floor with the kids.I only need to use the elevator to go to the ground floor and to the gallery from there.
When we came to the top floor,Lux answered the door."Welcome back,Raven."
"It's good to be back,Lux."
