"What's up with you, Bakubro?" Kirishima clapped his hands around Bakugou's shoulders, massaging them vigorously. The ash-blond shrugged them off without saying anything. His face was pale as the moon and the bags under his eyes turned deeper every day.
What was once an aggressive, competitive boy was merely a shell of his old self.
"Shut up, shittyhair." he mumbled, propping his face onto his palm as he stirred his spicy noodles.
Sitting a table away, Y/N had decided to listen in on Kirishima and Bakugou's conversation instead of the one Jirou and Tsu were currently having. Ever since the dinosaur hoodie, Bakugou had been trying to avoid her. He kept their interaction to a minimum and he no longer went down to the commons during the night, even though it was obvious he hadn't been sleeping.
After finishing her beef udon, she stood up, "I'll see you guys later."
Tsu and Jirou bid her farewell and turned back to their conversation.
"Oi, Katsuki, wanna train with me?"
"Yeah."
"YOU DIDN'T EVEN YELL AT ME FOR CALLING YOU KATSUKI!"
"Would you rather I did, you shitty vampire?"
Tossing the half-eaten food into the trash, he stuck his hands into his pockets and began walking away.
"See you later."
-
Hopping from side to side, the girl felt her ponytail bounce slightly. She stretched, waiting for her companion. He had said he would be here and Bakugou Katsuki, no matter how arrogant and impulsive he is, always kept his word.
Suddenly, a hand reached out of nowhere and swiped at her waist, which she cleverly dodged, "You're going to have to do better than that Bakubaku. I felt you there ages ago."
Bakugou dragged himself out of the bush.
"We're not going to use our quirks," she said, "That would wake everyone up."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," he grumbled before launching himself at her. His punches were slow and his movements were less agile. Normally, he would be a formidable opponent; one of the only ones who could go hand-to-hand with Y/N and keep up, but this time, she had him pinned on the ground in less than three minutes.
He struggled against her bindings to no avail. Finally, he went limp and accepted his defeat.
"What is up with you, Kacchan?"
No answer.
However, Y/N L/N knew exactly which buttons to push.
"You've been weaker than usual. Falling behind isn't like you."
He looked up at you, his eyes pitifully hollow. The cool night wind was the only thing that broke the silence between you.
"Have you been sleeping?" Finally dropping her act, she neared him. However, he stood up and backed away from her, "Shut up."
Refusing to give up, the silver-haired girl ran behind him, "Seriously, answer me! I'm not your enemy. I care about-"
"I told you to shut up, goddamnit," his voice came from behind clenched teeth.
"I won't until you tell me what the hell is going on with you, Bakugou! I'm worried about you! Is that what you want to hear?" the volume of her voice increased with every word, "Your hero performance has dropped so much. You said you wanted to be the top hero but if this continues, you can forget about that dream."
Y/N tried to put her hands on his shoulders but he whipped around and grabbed them. His eyes were lit up with anger and his chest was heaving, "Say that again. I dare you."
She squirmed, "Bakugou, your hands are getting warm."
"Don't change the subject, you pathetic-"
"Baku-"
"WHY CAN'T YOU EVER MIND YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS?" he shouted, explosions popping furiously in the palm of his hand. His eyes widened and they darted back to her shaking hands and her face. The place where Bakugou's hand and her wrist are connected was smoking.
Ripping her hands away, she squat down, cradling her hands to her chest and chanting something. A whimper rose out of her throat followed by little gasps. Bakugou stared at her with disbelief. This was exactly how his dream played out. She wasn't holding anything to her chest, she was trying to heal herself. The skin was desperately trying to stitch together but somehow, the fibres never reached.
"I-I'm sorry, Y/N," he whispered, stepping back. The girl shook her head and stood up, allowing her hands to fall to her side, "I provoked you. It wasn't your fault."
"Y/N, I'm-"
"You don't have to apologize, Bakugou, I'm not mad. I should probably get going," she said standing up and walking inside.
"Go to recovery girl! I'll take the consequences," he shouted after her. The girl merely waved her hand.
Her wrist was stained a deep red and even from this distance, he could tell she was shaking.
-
The next day, Bakugou kept an eye out for the small girl. She was sitting in her usual spot. His eyes darted down to her wrist and saw two bandages wrapping around them.
"What happened to your arms, Y/N?" Denki slid up to her and gently poked her shoulder.
Bakugou strained his ears only to hear, "Oh, It's nothing."
They kept pestering her but she didn't say another word.
"I would love to kill whoever would dare mutilate her pretty arms," a nasally voice said. Bakugou whipped his head around to see Mineta Minoru talking to itself. Bakugou had the strongest urge to strangle it in the middle of class.
-
"Y/N, why didn't you go to recovery girl, I told you I would take the punishment-"
The girl continued walking forward, "It's not that."
"Then what is it? Are you keeping those on like some kind of attention whore-"
She stopped and faced him furiously. Holding her hand out, she ripped her bandages off. There were blisters forming on her wrist, specifically where his palms were, "In case you haven't figured this out, I'm not like normal people. Recovery girl's power speeds up human cell growth which will not work on something that is not human! I can heal myself but I can't heal burns. This is the price of being a vampire. I usually just heal myself but- fuck- I can't heal burns."
Tossing her ruined bandages in the trash, she stormed off, leaving Bakugou speechless in the dust.
