To The North Pole

It was cold as we flew, the wind wiping in and around the plane as Sandy piloted. But I felt comforted by the cold smiling as it made me shiver. Closing my eyes as the wind rustled my hair I listen to it roar as Sandy's plane continues across the never ending sky.

The North wind was always different then the Falls and Winters but I enjoyed it regardless, taking comfort in the familiarity of cold. Feeling we're getting closer I open my eyes and smile watching as Norths workshop gets closer. As much as this place brought mixed memories it still made me happy when I saw it.

The bright lights. The soft and meldious music that could be heard for miles. The feeling of merriment that burned in your chest, that wonderment that filled your very soul. It truly was amazing.

As we land the sand fades away leaving us standing on snow. Getting closer to Norths workshop my hand brushes against the worn buildings wood. This place was ancient, each scratch telling a story and every detail having some kind of importance. I could feel the energies from this place and it was a warm energy. One of love and wonder and imagination... it was gentle... it was what a home should feel like.

Memories of a distant fireplace and laughter fill my head and just for a second I think I remember my past before it goes quiet. The memories slipping through my grasp like always.

"(Y/N)...?" Jack whispers softly. I hum acknowledging him before pushing the feeling away letting my hand drop from the carvings. I couldn't focus on myself right now, I had a job I had to do. A half truth was better than nothing however and I didn't need Jack pestering me about something that couldn't be helped. Tooth didn't have my teeth. My memories were truly lost to the ages.

"... I've been on the naughty list longer than you..." Looking at Jack his blue eyes met my own glowing ones. "I'm scared." Looking away before closing my eyes I take a deep breath. Spirits didn't need to breathe but it was a nervous habit I guess, something that showed we were all once human. Or maybe by breathing in the cold air I was hoping it would freeze my nonexistent lungs and I'd die again. Shaking my head I smile looking at the red wood closely. "I just... give me a minute..." Jack nods and I take my time, trying to think of what I'll say. Of what I want.

Demons are coming? Night Creatures are gonna attack kids? Something greater than Fearlings? Something stronger... Mannys been helping me fight dark spiritual forces as long as I can remember? I'm relearning dark magic something that's made me lose control before? I'm not evil and all of you need to forgive me so I can finally forgive myself???

North was gonna kill me. If not North probably BunnyMund. Maybe Tooth. I could see Sandy doing it if he had too. Clenching my fists feeling the smeared ink from earlier I nod.

"I'm... I'm ready." I state staring at the large entrance doors. Jack hums before holding out his hand. Taking it he smiles at me giving me encouragement before we walk towards the giant swinging doors.

Sandy knocks and blinking they were open. A warm gust of air escapes the workshop blowing my hair back before the doors close behind us. Yetis busily move around not noticing me and a smile creeps up on my face as I take it all in. I'd never really gotten a good look of North's Workshop before.

The inside was more beautiful than the outside and it held that wonderment every child felt around Christmas time. Inventions one could only dream of were built here.

Kites of all shapes, sizes, and colors flew around the workshop on invisible winds while  model planes and drones flew about. Robots, figures, and toys of all kinds were in various stages of being made while dolls and stuffed animals ran around on the ground chasing the elfs and running from yetis.

"... Woah..." I mumble trying to take it all in.

"I know I was amazed the first time I saw it too." Nodding at Jack I blink unbelieving at all the toys ready to be shipped off. I stand still just taking it all in when his cold fingers wrap around my wrist. "Lets go." He hums excited. Feeling a tug from Sandy I nearly trip as the two guardians excitedly lead me forward. "Come on this way!" Jack says bristling with happiness as he gets a burst of energy.

We run down the halls heading to where all the guardians were. Sandy following on his dream cloud as Jack begins to pull at me making me fly with him.

Smiling as he begins to laugh, his laughter more than contagious I suddenly feel frozen as North's door open revealing the other Guardians in front of his globe. Eyes wide as I stared at North and the nearly black globe the man paused looking at the flickering lights before turning towards us. I stared in horror watching them begin to blink out and North seemed tired as he made eye contact with me.

"... (Y/N)." He states slowly. "We need to talk."
