Just as the house came into my sights, the sky opened up and dumped large raindrops onto my already ruined clothing. The rain didn't stop me, or put a frown on my face as I sped up to a slow jog, eager to see Faline. Once I reached the tree, I climbed the rungs quickly, ignoring the burning sting in my hands, and yelled out into the house.
"Faline! Faline you'll never guess what happ......" My voice trailed off as I looked around and she wasn't there.
Oh gods. There's no telling what could have happened to her! What if another hellhound got her? I bit back tears as I practically jumped out of the treehouse. If they were even here, I'd be able to see Bezos' tracks. Thank the gods, I saw a faint imprint of his hooves, and they led right to the ladder, and then away from the house. So she had been here.
I breathed a sigh of relief at her smartness. Even if she did stay here, she wouldn't be able to protect herself on her own. It's a good thing that shes moving. But where?
I followed the hoof tracks quickly, the rain becoming harder, and the hoof tracks being washed away on the first path.
"No no no no nononono!" I exclaimed in panick as I couldn't find the large hoof prints anymore.
I looked around frantically to see if I could see her figure, but might had set and the only thing that I could see were distant light fo a village. A village!! I quickened my pace as the rain continued to pour. I could surely find a horse in the village.
Once I reached the small village, I was let down once I saw that it was deserted and empty, just like the other ones I've passed. The lamps were still lit here, so that meant that they had left recently. Tears of frustration welled up in my eyes as I sought refuge under a covered porch, my back sliding against the wood and onto the floor.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as exhaustion set in. Everything hurt, including my brain. I sighed as I pulled myself up painfully. I wandered around in the pouring rain, hoping to find an abounded stable, and skidded to a stop when I heard a whinny. I ran towards where I heard the sound, and was met with a stable.
At the end, in the very last stall, was a tall, yellow dapple horse, with dark legs(1). I practically squealed in delight when I noticed that the horse was already saddled up.
It looked like it's owner had saddled it up, but was drug away too quickly to get in the horse. I didn't question it, and agreed that the gods were smiling down on me, unlike the sun, and mounted the horse swiftly.
I took a moment to relish in the feel of a saddle, having rode bareback for several years. I shook the thought out of my head as I squeezed my heels into the horse's sides, it taking to a walk out of the stable. I kept the horse at a walk as we went though the village, but kicked my heels into his sides excessively for him to run. He did just that, and bolted off down the dirt pathway.
Faline here I come.
𒊹︎Faline's POV𒊹︎
When Bezos finally slowed to a stop, I hopped off of him and groped around for his reigns, leading him forward with my arm stretched out.
I walked a few steps, and then I bumped into something hard, falling flat on my bottom.
"Watch where you're going, you....." the voice trailed off.
"Loki, she is a child, don't you dare curse her!" A motherly voice butted in, and my brows scrunched up.
My eyebrows raised as I realized that this was my chance to get (Y/n) help.
"Please! Please, miss! My sister is out fighting a beast! She sent me away and she needs help!" My eyes became glossy as I thought about what could have happened to (Y/n).
"Take a deep breath, dear-" Her voice stopped abruptly, a gasp following.
𒊹︎Loki's POV𒊹︎
Mother and I were observing one of the small congregations inside of the palace walls, her insisting that I come with her to make sure that her subjects were settling in alright after being pushed from their homes.
Mother was talking to be about the importance of caring about your subjects when something collided into my back.
"Watch where you're going, you....." my voice trailed off as I turned around abruptly, my mother looking at me with a stern look on her face that made me close my mouth.
"Loki, she is a child, don't you dare curse her!" Frigga spoke sternly to me, my eyes moving to the culprit that collided with me, and my brows raised at the sight.
A little girl, no older than 10, leading a horse that was twice the size of her. The girl had very long, dark hair, and her eyes were clouded, blind. I felt horrible for speaking to her in such a way, she must be lost.
"Please! Please, miss! My sister is out fighting a beast! She sent me away and she needs help!" The little girl exclaimed, facing away from us slightly, which probed my theory of her bing blind correct. Her eyes became filled with tears as she rambled.
"Take a deep breath, dear-" My mother was quick to calm the girl down, but she cut herself off with a gasp, and when I looked at her questioningly, she pointed to the little girl's back in horror.
My face matched hers, horror. The back of the girl's dress was ripped to shreds, barley holding into her body, and underneath, a gash could be seen seeing blood.
