Lena's POV

Alex and I decided to go out shopping. We went to the biggest mall in National city. It was just me and Alex; we would've brought Kara and Kelly, but they both had to work. So we just went us two, since we both had the day off of work.

We walked around the mall for about 45 minutes; buying some things here and there. I bought a really nice necklace for Kara. I think it would really suit her, and look good on her. Anyway, we continued walking around the mall when we passed a tv projecting the news.

The news read: "Breaking news; a recent attack on Catco has many reporters and employees needing medical attention, while Supergirl is also in critical condition. The attacker appears to be another alien. Su-"

I feel a tightening in my chest at those words. All of a sudden I can't breathe, and I collapse to the ground. I feel my throat getting smaller, and smaller as I try to breathe. Then I hear Alex talking to me.

"Lena, Lena! Are you okay? What's wrong?" She kneels down next to me. I gasp for air, but can't seem to get enough. I begin to panic and hyperventilate. I feel like the walls are going to close in on me. "Lena, you're okay. You're going to be okay."

After a minute, I still can't seem to catch my breath. Alex keeps trying to calm me down and reassure me, but nothing's is working. I sit with my back against the wall, and pull my knees to my chest, while tears stream down my face. I now have no control over my body or my breathing. Then I heard Alex speak to me again,

"Lena, I'm gonna get help okay?" I nod in response. Alex stands up and pulls out her phone.

Third person POV:

Alex dials a special number that connects to Kara's comms. "Kara, are you okay? I saw the news."

"I'm alright Alex. Just a few cuts and bruises. The news always overexaggerates everything." A loud thud came through the phone from Kara's end.

"Kara, what was that?!" concern laced Alex's voice.

"I just knocked out the alien. Is everything okay with you?"

"Uh, it's Lena-" As soon as Kara heard the name of her best friend, she listened in for her heartbeat. Lena's heartbeat was way above normal speed, and within seconds, Supergirl appeared in the middle of the mall next to Lena.

Kara's POV:

As soon as I heard Lena's name, I knew something was wrong. I listened in for her familiar heartbeat. Lena's heart was beating way faster than normal. I've never heard her heart beat this fast. Whether I'm with her, or I'm listening to her heartbeat when we're not together, it's never been this fast.

I knew something was wrong. Lena needs help, she needs my help. She's in trouble. I speed out of Catco and follow Lena's heartbeat. I knew they were at National city mall, but I used Lena's heartbeat to pinpoint where exactly they were in the large mall. Within seconds, I landed in the mall right next to Lena. I was still in my suit, but I didn't care. All I cared about was Lena. She doesn't look too good.

She was freaking out, hyperventilating. Oh Rao, she's having a panic attack.

"Lena! You're going to be okay. Everything is going to be alright." I begin to rub soothing circles on Lena's back. Lena looks up and meets my gaze.

"I-I... c-can't, breathe." Lena says shakily.

"Lena, honey, listen to me. You have to try to take some deep breaths."

"I-I can't..." Lena continues to hyperventilate.

"Lena, you're having a panic attack. You're going to be okay, just match my breathing." I begin to take slow, deep breaths for Lena to match. Lena tries to match my breathing, but fails.

"Kara, I-I can't do it..." Lena continues to panic even more.

"Yes you can. Just follow my lead." I resume taking deep breaths. Lena's breathing begins to slow down as she tries to match mine, and her heartrate is slowing as well. "That's it, keep taking deep breaths."

Lena's heartrate is almost back to normal speed, and we continue to take deep breaths together. Then, Lena starts to cry. "Oh Lena," I pull her into a hug, she wraps her arms around my neck and buries her head in the crook of my neck. I feel her heartbeat begin to speed up slightly again. "You're okay, I've got you!"

"I'm sorry..." Lena whispers so quietly that I had to use my super hearing to hear what she said. She continues to cry on my shoulder as I comfort her.

"Hey, you have nothing to be sorry for. You had a panic attack, it happens. I get them all the time, and I know, they're scary. But you don't have to be afraid. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere!" I rub soothing circles on Lena's back.

By this point, everyone in the mall was staring at us and Alex was trying to shoo them away, but honestly, I didn't even care. Let them stare. All I care about is Lena.

Once Lena's tears were subsided, she pulled away from the embrace and wiped the unshed tears from her eyes.

"You're okay, I've got you!" I reassure her.

"Thank you..."

"Anytime, Lena."

I smile at her, and she weakly smiles back.
