"Blame those who treated you unworthy."

Melody's POV

Taking a deep breath, I hope telling Alex this won't change the way he sees me. I really don't want to deal with anymore drama.

"Mel, it's ok, I'm listening" Alex says as he holds my hands in his.

"Ok, well for starters I have a twin brother, who was in a coma for two months, and my parents blame me...." I say, feeling dull.

"Why do they blame you?" Alex says concerned.

"Because, I was the one driving that night, Alex" I say.

*Flashback*

'Come on Marc, we have to hurry. And this time I'm driving.' I say to my brother, excited. Every night we go to our spot, to sit and hang out.

"Alright, come on then, Mel what are we waiting for." Marcus says, rushing to the car.

When walking out of the front door, we discovered that it was raining. Rain was still my favorite, the best part of rain is being able to watch it fall from the windows of the car.

We both hurry and run to the car, I get in the drivers seat and my brother gets in the passenger seat.

As I started driving on the main road my brother says...

"Be careful, Mel. Even though the rain isn't coming down heavy, the roads still might get slippery." He says warning me, with a cautious tone.

"You trust me, right?" I say in a serious tone. " Of course I do silly, you're my other half. It would be like not trusting myself." He says with smirking in a humourous tone.

"You know just because you came out first, doesn't make you the oldest, right?" I say laughing

"Mel, how dare you? I am the oldest either way. And you simply have to deal with it." He says jokingly, laughing.

Stopping at a red light, I look over to Marcus to see he's texting someone. "Who are you texting?" I say curiously.

"Mom, I told her we'll be back in time for dinner at 8. It's currently 7 so we still have time." He says, looking at my face that's filled with annoyance

"Mel, you know mom and dad, don't mean any harm. They just view us differently from each other. Which is wrong, when we act exactly alike." He says genuinely

"I know, but it seems as though they only except greatness from you, not me." I say sincerely.

"Mel it's a greenlight go." I start driving ahead. "Although they don't except much from you, just know that I do and-"
Next thing I know the car is being flipped from the impact of truck.

I close my eyes getting ready for impact as the car crashes down to the ground. But I feel my brothers arms tie around me, pulling me towards him.

The car finally stopped upside down, I open my eyes. Looking up at marcus, I see blood coming from the side of his head.

"Marcus, Marcus don't leave me, come on stay with me." I say, crying. Looking into my brother's eyes, filled with tears.

"Mel, whatever happens just know that I love you." He says before he closes his eyes. Going completely unconscious.

"Marcus wake up. Don't leave me, not yet." With that last saying, I get pulled from the car by the pandemics. I watch as my brother gets pulled from the car, and gets rushed to the hospital.

With last look I close my eyes.

*Flashback Ends*

"After, the accident my parents made me feel like I didn't belong or I was unworthy, so I decided to leave and come here to Boston." I say, still feeling dull.

"Mel, that's not your fault, you have to find a way to stop thinking so negative of yourself." Alex says, calmly

"What happened when you went to visit and why did you visit?" Alex says, looking straight forward at me.

"I went there because it was Marcus's and I birthday and I wanted to see him." I say, saddened.

"Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?" Alex says, confused.

"Cause I never really celebrate it, even when I was home, it didn't really feel like, I was the one being celebrated. I only felt celebrated when I was with Vera and Oliver." I say, distanced.

"But, when I there I rebonded with Vera and Oliver, they are childhood friends, but when I went to see my brother I thought he was still in a coma." I say, as tears started coming from eyes.

"Only to see him standing well and healthy, then the things my parents told me were just horrible." I say, trying to manage myself from having a breakdown.

I start to get up, but I immediately get pulled back down by Alex. My head on his shoulder, this is what I trying to avoid by getting up.

"Mel, just let it out, I know you're struggling. I can see you're holding back." Alex says, comforting me. "It's ok, Mel."

As soon as he says that, I start to cry harder. I've never felt so many emotions, that made me feel so worthless.

I don't want to say how I feel out loud, because if I do then, I'll be admitting to myself that I'm really not ok.

I'm tired and exhausted, I haven't been getting any sleep, I have a million thoughts in my head. I feel weak.

"You don't have to tell me how you feel right now, but just know I'll be here to listen when you're ready." Alex says, as he wipes the tears from my face.

"Just rest for now, I'll stay the night with you." Alex says, concerned as he kisses my forehead.

We both move into a comfortable sleeping position on the couch, grabbing the nearby blanket. I lay beside Alex, and rest my head on his chest.

Feeling the exhaustion hit me, I don't fight it, I just let it consume me. Feeling myself getting drowsy, I close my eyes.

Before completley going to sleep, I hear Alex say,  "Goodnight, Mel."
