In which Xiao and Venti are on a double date with Zhongli and Childe and someone tells them they are sinning against the Geo Archon for being gay. This leaves all four stunned, especially Zhongli. Also I know Xiao would probably never agree to a double date, especially with Childe being one of the people present but Venti made him go and promised him almond tofu so there.

I actually got this idea ages ago after seeing that the church of favonius says overdrinking is a sin yet Venti is an alcoholic which really doesn't add up. Also I was originally going to set this in Mondstadt but I thought that wouldn't work since it's the nation of freedom so I thought Liyue was the one to pick. Zhongli's first story quest is also all about the fact history had been altered over time so I thought that would also be why I should pick Liyue. Am I saying Liyue is most likely too be homophobic no, i am saying though that Mondstadt is fruitier just overall. Have you seen the knights of favonius?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"There you are, you old blockhead." Venti called out and waved as he finally spotted Zhongli and Childe's table. He grabbed Xiao's hand and hurriedly pulled him towards the pair.
"Ah you're finally here," Zhongli said, "I was beginning to think you'd gotten drunk and abandoned our plans."
"Hey, it's a very long walk from Mondstadt y'know? I rush here as quickly as possible not even having time to make myself properly presentable and this is how I'm repaid." Venti mocked being offended and Zhongli rolled his eyes. The bard chuckled before turning to Childe.
"Ah Tortellini, how have you been?" He asked. Xiao, who had remained quiet the whole time, let out a chuckle.
"For the 100th time It's Tartaglia!" Childe exclaimed.
"And for the 100th time, Tortellini is way more memorable."
Zhongli, fed up with the bickering and noticing Xiao's continued quietness, decided to detour the conversation.
"Xiao, how have you been? Verr Goldet told me you haven't been at the inn that much this week." Zhongli asked.
"I mean I'm fine. Nothing's really changed. I've just been busy I suppose." Xiao responded, still avoiding eye contact however. He also didn't sound overly convinced of his own words.
"And by busy he means he's been visiting me a lot haven't you dear?" Venti said and Xiao immediately shot up.
"Hey you're the one who keeps calling my name even when there is nothing to kill! I'm seriously beginning to get tempted to just stop checking on you now." Xiao shouted slightly and crossed his arms.
"Fine I won't trick you anymore. It was fun whilst it lasted though."
Zhongli sighed again, he was seriously starting to regret his choices on asking the two out to dinner now. The only reason he asked in the first place was because he wanted to make sure Xiao was alright but knew he wouldn't willingly come to dinner with him and Childe if he hadn't asked Venti as well.
Just then a waiter came over and stopped the chaos.
"Is everyone ready to order?"
*time skip to when their food arrives*
Everyone tucked into their food happily, abandoning conversation for a while as they began to fill their hungry bellies. It wasn't until a couple of minutes later when Childe got nudged by Zhongli indicating he should try and start another conversation.
"So Venti, how's the music going?" He asked.
"The usual. I play songs, people pay me with wine, I get so drunk I fall asleep at the bar and Diluc has to wake me up." He answered and got a light slap frm Xiao.
"You really need to stop doing that. I'm surprised Diluc still puts up with you. Also it really can't be good for you." Xiao said.
"Anything for you sweety." Venti said and kissed Xiao's cheek. The yaksh just blushed and went back to eating.
It was at this moment that Venti noticed someone looking in their direction.
"Hey that dude over there is just staring at us. It's a little creepy." Venti pointed out and everyone looked over to see that there was in fact a rather old man looking at them.
"He's been glancing over at us all night." Xiao added.
"Let's just ignore him," Zhongli said before turning again to Xiao, "So Xiao I heard you went adventuring with the traveller the other day. How was it?"
"It was alright I guess. Nothing much happened, I kind of just helped them defeat some monsters as they gathered materials." Xiao responded, starting to be a little suspicious on why Zhongli hadn't asked anyone else questions the entire evening but deciding to drop it as to not cause a scene in front of his boyfriend.
"Ah I see." He said, taking another bite of his food, proceeding to get some sauce on his face.
"Xiangsheng you got a little something on your face, let me get it for you." Childe said, wiping it away with his thumb.
Zhongli blushed.
"Thank you Childe." He said and kissed Childe quickly on the forehead, making him now blush.
Continuing to eat away they soon finished their food. The waiter came over and took their plates and they continued to talk whilst they finished their drinks. It was during this time that Xiao yawned and, despite his protests, finally settled down on Venti's shoulder and closed his eyes.
"He looks so peaceful when he sleeps. Like an angel." Venti said and giggled slightly.
They then heard someone clearing their throat and looked up to see the same man who had been staring at them earlier.
"Can we help you?" Childe asked.
"No but I'm here to help you repent." He said.
"Repent? Repent for what?" Venti asked, confused
"For that." He said, gesturing to the sleeping Xiao who was cuddling into Venti's shoulder.
"Love?" Zhongli asked.
"That's not love, that's a fantasy. A man can't love another man, it is against the geo archon himself."
Zhongli spat out his drink in surprise and Childe and Venti burst out laughing.
"Why are you laughing, it's true." The old man said.
Venti merely picked up his sleeping boyfriend and Childe paid the bill as they all left.
"So blockhead you really said that?" Venti asked.
"I don't believe so, no. I mean it would be rather hypocritical of me to say something like that. A lot of history is changed over time, there is no way to tell the truth from the fiction unless you were there yourself. Take the mora for example. It's history has been changed overtime, the reason of how it was named, the reason why it was formed, passed down through time and changed so that only the one who made it could possibly know the answers. Another example is...." Zhongli answered.
"Xiangsheng, not that I don't love your history lessons but it's getting late and Xiao is already asleep. I think it's time to call it a night dear." Childe said, taking Zhongli's arm.
"Oh yes, my apologies. Venti I bid you farewell."
"Yes goodnight grandpa, goodnight tortellini."
Bonus-
The next day, Zhongli and Childe were walking around the harbor when they saw the man from the restaurant. The man also spotted them and began to approach them with a mixture of annoyance and happiness in his face. However, Childe just looked him directly in the eyes with a smirk on his face before pulling a slightly shocked Zhongli into a passionate kiss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I hope you enjoyed this little update. Not gonna lie I spent like an hour writing this but I was a little nervous about it. I never really talk about homophobia in my oneshots and when I have done it was always still a little jokey but uh let me know what you think. Should I touch on it more or not? I usually don't but I'm open to trying some more storylines.

That's it for today,

Oli
