𝐍𝐎𝐓 all stories have a good ending, but this one― this one does. And what better way to end a cliché high school au on prom night?

"I've been trying to get ready for like an hour and a half because I know you're going to look so good and I need to try and match up."

The corners of Jordyn's mouth lifted to form a smile as she listened to Nick ramble from his end of the call. She leant over the sink in her bathroom and continued applying light make-up.

"Half of that time was spent wondering if it would be too cliché if we matched clothes a little," he continued. "I spent around an hour torn between choosing out of two ties!"

The brunette giggled, "So now you're on your way with them both?"

"Yes because you've proven to be better at making decisions than I am," Nick admitted. "Also you've got good taste in fashion and I'm just a 'basic white boy'."

"Stop quoting my mom."

"It hurt though!" Nick retorted and she could hear the pout in his voice. "Imagine going to your girlfriend's place because her mom invited you to celebrate new year's, only for the same mom to make fun of you the whole night!"

"You cried after that," Jordyn shook her head in disbelief and stepped away from the mirror to take one last good look at herself.

"I did," Nick chuckled. "The only good thing about that night was the pineapple tarts."

Jordyn narrowed her eyes and hummed, "The only good thing?"

"Well," he started. "They were some pretty good pineapple tarts."

Jordyn hung up on him.
