JULIE'S POV (Will still be written in third person but will follow Julie in the Perfect Harmony scene)

"HEY." NICK SMILED, as he walked up to Julie.

Hayden scanned the blonde boy. "Well don't you look sharp." She commented sarcastically, even if the boy couldn't hear her.

Nick was wearing a black shirt, black pants and black does for the dance Julie had been talking about.

"You ready for our big performance?" He asked Julie.

Julie nodded. "Oh, yeah. Yeah. We're gonna do great."

"I'm glad you're confident. Even after three classes, I still think I got worse. It's a good thing I still got my secret weapon."

Hayden scowled a little but hid it in front of Julie and decided to tease her. "Uh-oh! I think somebody has a crush on Julie!"

"Shut up." Julie said to Hayden, making Nick give her an odd look. "Uh...shut upppp!"

"No, seriously, Molina. I'm nothing without you."

Julie watched as Hayden began to mock the boy by copying his actions. "Shh, no. No. You're gonna do fine." She nudged Nick's shoulder as a way of telling Hayden to stop, but she only smirked in response. "See you in there?"

Nick nodded. "Yeah. I'll be the guy trying not to make us look stupid."

Hayden followed Nick only steps away, still copying his actions before she turned back to Julie and said in a mocking voice, "Well, he is just too cute!"

"Boundaries. I'll see you after school."

"Guess we'll just have to carry you tonight just like we always do!" Hayden replied as Julie began to walk away. "I know you're smiling, princess! Kill it on the dance floor."

A little while later, Julie stood in dance class with Nick, now wearing a short black dress with shorts underneath. The whole class stood with their partners as their teachers spoke to them at the front of the hall.

"Boys. I want you to focus and leave it all out on the field."

"You're losing them, Frank."

"No, I got them-"

"Breathe in...shake out your nerves. Surrender to the music and to your partner. Here we go."

Nick looked at Julie, a worried tone in his voice. "I-I don't remember anything about surrendering."

Julie waved him off. "You'll be fine, Hayden."

"It's Nick, actually." The boy replied, a confused look on his face.

"Right! Nick. Sorry." Julie's eyes widened on realising her mistake. "My brain was wandering. But it wandered back...and now I'm ready to kill it."

The music started and Julie and Nick did the beginning of their dance. But then, everything slowed as Julie looked inti the huge mirror at the front of the hall. She came to a stop with her dancing as her eyes locked with a familiar ghost walking towards her. Julie watched as Hayden, in a similar dress to hers but in white, walked towards her. Stepping through the mirror as she began to sing.

(The dance is the exsact same but with Hayden in place of Luke and for his little dance part you can make something up or imagine Hayden doing the same moves as Luke did.)

"Step into my world
Bittersweet love story about a girl
Shook me to the core
Voice like an angel, I've never heard before."

Julie and Hayden's hands connected for the first time since they met and Julie began a whole new dance with the girl she loved. A dance with lifts, spins and closeness. A dance filled with love and connection.

"Here in front of me
Shining so much brighter than I have ever seen
Life can be so mean
But when she goes I know she doesn't leave." Julie sang as they continued to dance.

The two broke apart, Julie watching as Hayden did her own little dance where she ended on her knees in front of the girl.

"The truth is finally breaking through
Two worlds collide when I'm with you
Our voices rise and soar so high." Hayden and Julie harmonised as the latter girl lifted Julie into the air. "We come to life when we're
In perfect harmony
Woah, woah
Perfect harmony
Woah, woah
Perfect harmony"

Julie lifted her arms and Hayden followed, interlinking their fingers as she pushed her arms out to the side and pulled her into a hug, her arms wrapping behind Julie.

"We say we're friends
We play pretend
You're more to me
We create a perfect harmony."

When Julie opened her eyes, she realised she was no longer with Hayden but with Nick, in school. It had all been a sort of dream. A dream Julie wanted to go back to.

"Wow. We nailed that! Thanks partner." Nick grinned.

"Yeah." Julie mumbled, looking back at the mirror. "That was great. I gotta get going."

Julie ran from the room, heading straight to the empty music room where she lightly played the song she and Hayden were singing in her dream. All she could think about was the ghost girl. She just wished she could touch her.

"There you are." Flynn said, spotting her friend at the piano. "I've been looking all over for you. Why'd you run out of dance class so fast?"

"Sorry. I just needed some air. It was a little intense in there." Julie replied.

Flynn smirked. "Oh, I noticed. Dancing with the guy you've had a crush on for forever will do that to a girl."

Julie shook her head. "Yeah. But the whole time we were dancing, I was thinking about Hayden."

"Seriously? First off, called it. Second, I know you always want what you can't have, but Hayden is next level."

"I know! And now I think Nick likes me. Nick!"

"He totally does."

Julie sighed. "But me and Hayden just clicked. And she's so-"

"Not real. You can make all the music you want with Hayden, but...she'll always be a phantom. So...here's what we're gonna do." Flynn grabbed Julie's phone from the top of the piano and went to Nick's contact. "Send Nick a nice little friendly text asking him to come to your party tonight."

"Um, I don't usually use that many smiley faces."

Flynn shrugged. "You do now. I'm not gonna let you get your heart broken. And trust me. Tonight, you're performing with Hayden, so the key is avoiding those big, beautiful, dead...eyes."

"You're very pushy today."

"You're welcome."

(So, all the chapters are done but not published yet...this book is unfortunately coming to a close 😭)
