It was raining really heavily outside, with occasional thunder. He was sitting behind the counter, his head resting on his palm, as he looked outside the glass panes and saw people walking, most of them having an umbrella in their hand while others simply enjoyed getting drenched in the rain.

The café was silent, only one couple sitting silently in the corner, as they talked among themselves. He looked up at the clock and realised that his shift was gonna end soon. He looked outside, hoping to find her walking towards the café as usual, thinking that she might have been late because of the heavy rains.

As soon as he was about to give up his hope of seeing her today, the bell on the door rang, indicating a customer had come. He quickly looked up and saw her, drenched from head to toe, as she looked at him, smiling. He smiled, as he motioned her to sit down. She nodded, as she took her seat, trying to get her wet hair out of her face.

"Here." He said, as he handed her her order, along with a dry towel. She looked up, confused, as she glanced back at the towel in his hand. "You should probably dry your hair or else you might catch cold." He said, as he placed the towel in her hand. She smiled, thanking him, as she dried her hands, wiping her face and then drying her hair. She finished her hot drink, which helped her heat up her cold insides, after which she stood up, walking towards the counter to give him back the wet towel.

He took it back, smiling, keeping it aside. She smiled back, as she turned around to leave but stopped, staring out as sheets of rain fell down on the ground from the heavens. He saw her stand still, hesitating to leave the warm café.

"Is everything alright?" He asked, curious, as he looked at her. She turned around, as she nodded reluctantly.

"I don't have an umbrella..." She said, trailing off, as she fiddled with her fingers, clearly embarrassed at the fact that she had left her umbrella in her house before she left for her classes. He started chuckling, as his hands went behind his back, untying the apron which he was wearing.

"I have an umbrella. My shift's over so I can drop you." He said, smiling, as he folded his apron neatly, keeping it aside. Her cheeks flushed at the thought of him dropping her at her house, but she nodded, trying to hide her flustered self.

Both of them went out together in the rain, as they chatted among themselves, knowing about each other.

"Thank you for dropping me, Jake." She said, as she stood at the door of her house, looking at him, a smile on her face.

"No problem. See you tomorrow Lia!" He said, waving, a wide grin on his face, causing her to chuckle softly, as she waved back at him.
