Red, white, no matter the colour,
Beauty cannot be denied.
No matter how dour,
I could not, even if I tried.
A single carnation for every day,
Would not be sufficient for my devotion,
No matter what I even say,
Will prove to you my dedication.
All I have to offer is my imperfections,
Compared to your perfect symmetry.
I would hazard any depredations,
Even being nailed to a tree!
The sun rising in the morn,
Holds no fascination for me,
For you I feel I was born,
To love you, for all to see.
To cross vast regions,
Will be but a triviality,
To fight hordes or legions,
I shall do with frivolity.
To wake to your smile,
Would impress upon my mind,
A pleasure beyond denial,
That I would keep, though I go blind.
Your heart I wish to keep,
Safe, locked away with mine.
So that no impurities may within seep,
To ruin what is sublime.
To be complete would entail,
A merging of our lives,
Which I would allow without fail,
So that it only survives!
Though the years depart,
I view the accumulation of years,
As a damn good start,
To banishing all our fears.
Though my tongue be taken,
I would strive to find a way,
To prove I have not forsaken,
That I love you is all I can say.
