The clock chimed on the wall, it rung six times; claiming that the time was now six in the afternoon.
Malina got up from the chair, setting down her book. She ran her hands on top of her dress, smoothing out the wrinkles.
She walked toward the foyer, picking up her purse from the table and taking a glance in the mirror.
Her hair was long, reaching just below her chest and her icy eyes stared back at her. She took a deep breath and headed out the door.
Her apartment was on the fifth floor and she took the elevator down, not wanting to trip on the stairs.
The elevator door chimed as it reached the ground floor, the doors opening wide for her to step out.
Her heels clicked against the stone floor, the sound echoing off the walls.
Malina's beautiful figure elegantly walked to the car that awaited her.
A smirk plastered on her face as she walked by a group of guys that were staring at her. Her ego swelled as she winked at them, their surprised glances made her lightly chuckle.
She got in the car, greeting the driver as she settled in her seat.
The car jolted forward, making it's way toward the destination.
She looked out the window, watching the city lights twinkle in the distance, lighting up the night sky.
New York really is beautiful
The car came to a stop in front of a large building. Flashing lights from cameras awaited her at the front, blinding her as she got out of the vehicle.
"You look stunning, my love" a voice from beside her said.
Her heart instantly calmed down as she stared at his beautiful face, his features settling her nerves.
They walked down the carpet that laid outside the building, smiling as they waved to the cameras.
The building was warm as they reached the front entrance. A large man opened the gate, allowing them to enter.
The place was filled with people dressed in gowns and tux's. Waiters rushed around, bringing food and drinks to the rich.
They walked toward a group of older men, their white and silver hair slicked back with gel.
"Tanner! It's good to see you kid." One of them said, patting the man beside her on the back.
"Mr. Geralds. It's good to see you too, sir." He replied, stepping back toward Malina.
"Don't be so formal, call me Ben." He chuckled. He looked to the girl that stood beside him, his attention now on her.
"And who might this beautiful girl be?" He asked Tanner.
His hand went to the small of her back, drawing small shapes on her exposed skin.
"Ben. This is my fiancé, Malina."
She stepped forward, extending out her hand for him to take. His grip was firm and his hand felt rough.
"Malina Donovan. It is a honour to meet you." He shook her hand hard, she fought not to pull out of his grasp.
She smiled at him, finally pulling her hand free.
"It's a pleasure, Mr. Geralds."
"We better get going, Malina and I have to make our rounds to everyone." Tanner smiled at the man and they walked away.
"How did I do?" Malina asked him, as they made their way to the other groups.
