As if rubbing it in my face that the love of my life was no more in my life wasn't enough, this Chemistry teacher had to keep reminding me and the look-alike seated beside me reminded me of her as well.

"Well, this doesn't get awkward enough. I had thoughts of partnering you with a different group, but since another Holden showed up in the picture, this wouldn't hurt for you, Brady. I just hope she's as brilliant as Pearl." He coldly said, not missing a beat and Paisley looked at him surprisingly.

"And why do I have a feeling Pearl's demise brings you joy, Mr. Foster?" Paisley asked, staring the hell out of him and his awkward grin spread on his face. I poked at her bare thighs with my pen and she wasn't budging. She had everyone looking our way. "Can I ask where you were the night my sister got hit by a car?"

"Paisley," I mumbled her name and all she was looking at was Mr. Foster.

"Young lady, you have been in this town for less than a month. Don't act like you know me or anyone else here because you don't." Mr. Foster spoke.

"Actually I do, Foster." She stood up from her lab stool and I buried my face in my palm, cursing out. She was so fearless!

"Did she just say, Foster?" The nerdy boy in glasses sitting on my left asked. "Why did Pearl never had these kinds of balls? Her sis is so cool." He laughed. I held Paisley's hand and pulled her back.

"Don't do this here," I mumbled to her and she went ahead, picked up her bag and walked out of the lab. I picked up my books and went after her. Doing this was not the right way to go about it and she had to know that. The hallway was empty as everyone was still in the class. "Paisley," I called after her and she walked out of the school like school meant shit to her. I managed to stop her at the front yard by pulling her hand and she took a deep breath. "What's wrong with you? I understand you want to know what happened to your sister but doing this is not the right way to go about it. It's wrong."

"I don't know who to trust, okay!" She yelled at me and I was like, damn girl!

"What did I do?" I asked and she sighed heavily.

"Sorry, I'm used to that. I'm just angry."

"And I get that. You're supposed to be mad but don't be venting it out on innocent people. Mr. Foster is a good man."

"He isn't." She shook her head. "Everyone is bad, Brady. Everyone is." I felt she needed to cry. Even Mr. Foster was part of Pearl's secrets. What did I ever do so wrong for her to keep everything from me? "Do you want to come with me? I want to show you something?"

"We're skipping school?"

She smiled and nodded. "You scared? I thought you were a bad boy."

"I'm not really a bad person..."

"Shut your mouth and get me out of here." She held my hand and pulled me away with her. Her hands felt just like Pearl's. She turned to me with a smile and I gulped a little hard. "My mom will be at work. Let's go to my house."
