Theodora's POV
We walked up to our dorm rooms after saying goodbye to the boys.
"Draco's gotten pretty cute this year, don't you think so Dora?" Pansy teased. I rolled my eyes.
"And? What about it?"
"So you admit it?" Daphne giggled. I rolled my eyes.
"I never said, he was!"
"You never denied it either."
"Oh, will you two go to sleep?" I asked as I pulled my pajama shirt on.
"So you do like him!" Daphne yelled, I signed.
"If you think he's so cute, why don't you just ask him out for yourself then?" I asked, but the thought made me annoyed. Daphne shook her head.
"I can't! You two are just so cute together!"
---
"Gather 'round. Find yourself a spot. That's it. Now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books -"
"And how do we do that exactly!" I asked, holding the book as far as I could from myself. Hagrid smiled,
"Just stroke the spine, of course." He said before walking away. I bring the book closer to myself and run my finger along the spine. It purred before opening quickly. I smirked, shrugging, before walking over to my friends and throwing my things down.
"God, this place is going to the dogs. Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore is letting this oaf teach classes, —"
"Shut up, Jones!" Potter yelled, walking up to me. I giggled, strolling up to him, biting my lip, and looking him up and down. Before making the best-scared face I could, and I pointed a shaky finger up to the sky.
"D-Dementor! Dementor!" Everyone jumped, turning around but seeing nothing there. I giggled, wiggling my fingers at Potter.
"Ooh,"
"Gee up, there!" Hagrid yelled. Bring a Hippogriff out with him. I stepped back and leaned against the tree, rolling my eyes.
"Hippogriffs! Beautiful aren't they?" Hagrid asked,
"Now, firs' thing yeh gotta know about Hippogriffs is, they're proud. Easily offended, Hippogriffs are. Don't insult one, 'cause it might be the last thing yeh do. Yeh always waits fer the Hippogriff ter to make the firs' move. It's polite, see? Yeh walk toward him, and yeh bow, an' yeh wait. If he bows back, yeh're allowed ter touch him. If he doesn' bow, then get away from him sharpish, 'cause those talons hurt." Hagrid explained,
"Now, who wants to ride him, first?"
"I'll do it," Potter said when the class fell silent. Hagrid smiled and waved Potter over. Potter bowed slowly to the Hippogriff. After a second, the Hippogriff nodded at him, and Harry slowly started petting it.
"There you go!" Hagrid laughed, smiling at him. I rolled my eyes.
"This is so boring," I muttered to Pansy who nodded,
"I think it'll let you ride it, Harry," Hagrid said, Potter shook his head no, but Hagrid put his arm around his waist.
"Hagrid no! No! Don't!" But Potter was already on the Hippogriff. Hagrid hit the Hippogriff on the back, and it started running and flew up.
---
"Excellent work, Harry!" Hagrid yelled, as the Hippogriff came back down and Hagrid helped Potter come back down. I looked around, seeing everyone's amused expressions. I got off the tree I was leaning on and stormed up to the animal.
"Give me a go at that thing. If Potter can do it, it must be easy. You're not dangerous at all, are you, you great ugly brute-"
"Dora, no!" I heard Draco yell, but it was too late. The Hippogriff had stood up. I covered my face with my arms before I felt someone push me to the ground, and then a loud scream was heard.
"Draco!" I yelled, sitting up. Draco laid on the ground, holding his arm close to his chest, and his eyes shut tight.
"It's killed him! It's killed him!"
"No, he's alright, it's just a scratch!" Hagrid said. I glared up at him.
"Hagrid! He needs to go to the hospital!" Granger yelled before I could say anything.
"Alright I'll take him!" Hagrid said, scooping up Draco.
"I'm coming with you!"
"No, I'm the professor-"
"Barley a professor! It's already your first day and now you killed Draco!"
"Fine, you can come along." I grabbed Draco's things and walked behind Hagrid.
"You've killed him! Your bloody chicken killed him! Wait until my father hears about this!" I yelled.
---
"What happened?" Madam Pomfrey yelled as Hagrid put Draco down on the bed.
"An accident with Buckbeak. His arm's got a scratch." Hagrid said, Madam Pomfrey nodded, before Hagrid walked out, looking guilty.
"They've-"
"I swear if you say that they've killed me one more time, I will kill you," Draco muttered, as Madam Pomfrey helped him out of his robe.
"It did! I will owl my father at once! Have that stupid bird killed, or Hagrid fired! Whichever comes first!" I muttered angrily, as Draco slid off his shirt, and was left in his undershirt.
"Really it's just a scratch, he'll be fine in a couple of days." Madam Pomfrey commented,
"Before my quidditch match, right? I can't miss that, Madam Pomfrey." Draco asked, Madam Pomfrey nodded.
"Yes, you'll be fine. Now, Ms. Jones, I must ask you to leave because you are being highly distracting, while I'm trying to fix Mr. Malfoy up." I glared at her before signing and picking my bag.
"I'll see you later, Draco," I muttered, bitterly.
---
"Does it hurt terribly Draco?" Lavender Brown asked as Draco was showing her his cast.
"A bit,"
"Oh, you were so brave for standing up for Jones. I consider you lucky you didn't lose your whole arm." She cried, scooting closer to Draco. I roll my eyes, stabbing my chicken that I still haven't taken a bite out of.
"Look at him, he's loving this attention, isn't he? I mean, I'm the one he took the fall for, but you don't see me, drooling over him like that, now do you?" I asked, Pansy, rolled her eyes as Daphne giggled.
"Oh, wasn't that just so heroic of him? I mean I watched him the entire time, and he didn't even bat an eyelash before shoving you out of the way." Daphne said, smiling at the memory.
"Don't tell me you're falling for him now too?" I asked,
"Oh, of course not. I mean, he deserves the attention, doesn't he?"
"And he's gotten quite cute, you can't deny that," Pansy commented, giggling. I signed, ignoring her, as I glanced back at Draco, who now looked quite uncomfortable as Brown started running her fingers through his hair.
"He's been sighted!" Finnigan yelled, running into the great hall. The Gryffindor's all crowd around the middle of the table, staring at a newspaper.
"Who?" Weasley asked,
"Sirius Black!" Someone yelled,
"Achintee? That's not far from here..." Granger says.
"You don't think he'd come to Hogwarts, do you?" Longbottom asks,
"With the Dementors every where? He can't." Brown commented.
"Dementors? He's already slipped by them once, hasn't he? Who's to say he can't do it again?" Someone yells,
"That's right. Black could be anywhere. It's like trying to catch smoke. Like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands."
