Rene
Rene got everyone back to the Dion house and Celine's siblings went straight to bed. He couldn't blame them, it was nearly three in the morning. Celine dropped into the couch and stared at the empty fireplace, gnawing on her bottom lip. Even though she'd had two brief naps, Rene knew she needed real sleep. He also knew that she'd resist it and fight it. That was Celine. He sighed. "Celine-""No. Don't take that tone with me." "What tone." "The parent tone you have. Stop being my manager for the night and be my friend." Celine whispered, pulling her knees up to her chin. "I'm upset and I'm afraid if I go to sleep, I'll wake up in the hospital and Maman will be ..." She squeezed her eyes shut and Rene sighed. He knew he should leave. He should insist she go to bed, then leave. Be profession. Especially after seeing Therese. But Celine's tears threatened to break his heart and shattered his resistance. Instead of doing what he should have done, he sat down beside her, wrapped his arms around her and gently kissed the top of her head. Her flowery perfume calmed his nerves, eased his tense muscles until he hugged her fully. "Rene." "I'll stay here. Talk to me, Celine. Tell me everything." That's all she needed. She spilled her soul – every fear, every upset, every single thing onher mind. Rene listened, stroking her hair and trying to lull her to sleep with the sound of her own voice. After a while, it seemed to work. She leaned more heavily on his chest and wormedagainst him.
