Y/n's POV

We got up bright and early the following morning. Nat smiled at me as I examined the purple bruises still covering lots of my body. She helped me cover the visible ones with concealer before we went to make breakfast. In the early hours of the morning, Rocket and Nebula returned to earth after going to check on their friends or something, they didn't exactly tell us where they were going. But now they were back, so we left them frowning at the morning news as we all left. Well, Steve, Tony, Nat, Rhodey and I. Steve and Rhodey had their suits on but Nat and I were in disguise. We were to stay in the crowd and be on standby. Nat was wearing a black suit with a white, slightly unbuttoned shirt and knee length black leather boots. I had a dark purple suit with a black lace bodice and black Doc Martens. {Sorry if you don't like the clothes, feel free to imagine something else <3} Steve drove us there, about half an hour before the event was starting. Nat and I sat in the back, she had her arm around me and we were silently watching as the boys as they discussed a plan if there was trouble. When we arrived the venue seemed pretty empty. The GRC council were having a meeting inside before their final announcements so we decided to go in and tell them we were here. We passed the security guards in the gleaming new building and got in the elevator to the main board room. We all put in a comms earpiece as the lift went up.

"Nat? Check." Steve asked. "Yep." "Rhodes?" "Yes Cap." He nodded."Y/n?" "Loud and clear." I smiled. "Stark?"The man nodded, he had not really been talking to Steve as much as he used to. I think he was still a little annoyed about the whole being left alone on an alien planet with a robot lady and also the fact that Steve didn't tell him Buck murdered his parents. I mean, I don't really blame Tony; that was a sort of big deal. But Steve's heart was in the right place and he was protecting his best friend so his actions were also understandable. "You remember where you're positioned don't you Rhodey?" Steve looked at the man, who was already in his war machine suit. The man nodded. "Ladies, you'll be monitoring crowds and watching surroundings. I need laser focus. Y/n, if you could keep some eyes in the sky, seeing as we've lost our wingman." He told us, referring to Sam. Tony had his nano suit back on, after Steve had given it back to him once his temper tantrum had worn off. But for now Tony was in his iconic glasses and a black tie suit. The escalator noise rang and we stepped out. Two security guys led us to the meeting room where we waited for the meeting to end. After about fifteen minutes Ross appeared, followed by a few other people. "Oh. You decided to come I see. Well let's get to it then." The greying man huffed, striding off back towards the elevator. We all followed him, Tony and Nat were trying not to laugh at how serious everyone was being. "Now, we want Cap off stage, he'll draw the attention away from the announcement." Ross ordered as we got back into the elevator. "Ladies, be discrete. You are technically still criminals so can't really have you wandering around in public display." He looked me dead in the eye."Don't really think that matters now does it Secretary. Let's be honest, not when half the universe has disappeared and the world is still in disarray. We're your best source of defence, most criminals don't defend the government." I bit back, glaring at him. He rolled his eyes but chose not to respond. Eventually we got down to where we were meant to be and Cap and Rhodey were led off to where they were to be positioned. Nat and I had to go and join the cue of people waiting to enter the courtyard area. They were members of the general public, which was a risky thing to allow considering there would be many conflicting opinions. We waited separately in the cue, watching and listening to anyone around us until we were finally allowed in. It reminded me of a concert or festival as people poured through the gates and took their place on the concrete. There had been a small stage set up where they were going to be announcing the new rules and procedures. I stuck close to a group of younger looking people wearing quite dark clothing. I tried to listen in on their conversation however it was quite impossible over the general chatter of the crowd. Once everyone was packed in shoulder to shoulder, Secretary Ross came out of the door followed by a few other GRC members. They all took their place behind a podium and microphone. The crowd began to hush and I took my opportunity to try and spot my teammates. I could see Rhodey positioned to the side of the stage, Tony was just visible on the roof but from what I could gather no one had noticed. Steve was still tucked out of the way and Nat... well she had blended into the crowd. That's the trouble with having a short girlfriend, you lose them easily in big crowds of people. Ross cleared his throat and began to talk. "Welcome everyone, thank you for coming. And thank you to those of you tuning in at home. Today we shall be making starts to a new future. A rather unexpected future but a future nevertheless. We are prepared and ready to support you. The government is aware of how many people have been affected by the blip. The government and other world wide political influences have come together to form the Global reparation council. Aka the GRC. The GRC will be working hard to get everyone's life back to a somewhat normal way of functioning." I heard the people around me whispering about their thoughts. There was one woman who said bitterly to her friend that the GRC would be useless. Especially if it were mostly made up of Americans, as I listened I realised the familiar German accent we had encountered whilst hiding from the law with Cap and Sam. "How are we looking people?" Cap asked over comms. I looked around."Pretty peaceful my side, unless you count the grumpy menopausal German women about 10 inches to my left." I sniggered. "Or the stoner dudes who think this is a concert rather than a government announcement." whispered Nat. "No! No! Give that to me!" She called at someone. "I don't get paid enough for this. They've just tried to give an old man drugs. Excuse me? What are you doing?" She sighed. I couldn't help but laugh. "Nat, you don't get paid for this.""This isn't funny." An elderly woman behind me scolded me. "Oh sorry." I huffed and began to push through the crowd towards the front. "Hey!" A tall man grumbled. "Beep beep.... Sorry. Thanks!" I said quickly, squeezing between bodies. I saw a tall man with a beard dressed in a black hoodie, he had a sort of unnerving glare. He lifted his hand to his mouth and appeared to be talking to something on his wrist. I decided to get closer trying to listen in but he was whispering. "Got a suspicious figure on the near left of the stage. Appears to be talking on some sort of watch looking thing. "Can you get a better look Y/n? Plant a device or something? Only if you think he is dodgy." Rhodey asked. "Ummm, I'll try." I mumbled, ducking under the arm of a tall person in front of me. I approached the man, looking around as if trying to look for something. I stood on my tip toes faking looking over the crowd before walking forward. The whole time I tried to listen to him but his voice was too hushed. I got a small listening device out of my pocket and put it in the palm of my hand Without really looking where I was going I walked into the man. I made sure to sort of balance myself by holding his arms which would allow me to attach the device to the back of his hoodie sleeve. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry." I said. The man glared at me as I brushed myself off. "You don't happen to know where there would be a bathroom. Only my friend said she needed to go, so we split up to try and find one. But now I've lost her in the crowd and my phone is out of battery so I can't call her." I said, sounding worried. The hooded man looked at me with confusion. "Er. No. And I, well... have fun finding you friend." He frowned. I nodded and began to walk off, taking the occasional glance at him. I brought up my phone and used the app Tony had made to link up the device with our comms line. I clicked play which allowed the team to here his conversation. "This is ridiculous. They can't just let the houses go to other people. And to restrict the border, it's out of order. We need to put part B into roll. Get her into position." "Sounds important." Tony said. "Oh." He replied. "I think I found her." He added. "Talk to me Stark. What's happening. One of the security guys was giving me instructions." Steve said. "So shady guy... Hey that's rude! Said get her in position. I think I found her. Angry girl, dressed in black, she has black hair and a sort of black mask. I think she has... yep definitely has guns! Alright, Missy, calm down!" Tony said quickly. "Anyone else got visuals on anything else?" Steve questioned hurriedly. "Um, hoodie dude has disappeared. Nat you got anything?" I called over comms."Um, just visuals on Stark. You're drawing attention Tony." "Sorry, but this girl ain't no school ground bully. Nat you might have some competition for the baddest bitch who isn't magic, a God or fueled by serum." Tony sounded like he was struggling slightly. "Steve he said a bad word!" I laughed. "Haha. Funny kid." Steve replied sarcastically. "Not to be rude Tony but you sound like you are getting you ass beat by a little girl." Rhodey said. "Nope. Just going easy on her. If I could she would have already been thrown off this roof. No, no. Sorry, I mean blasted off this roof. Would you stop scratching the suit!" He tried to tell us as he continued to fight her. "Oh, shit." He sort of laughed as I saw the girl get dangerously close to the edge of the roof. The crowd gasped as many of them saw it. "Oh, look. There's a him now." Tony sounded a little fed up. "Bye!" He called as I saw one of the black dressed figures fly across the roof. "It's Iron man!" A girl called as a group of people began pointing at the roof. Ross and the other men paused their speech as the crowd completely lost focus. There was the odd tall figure that I saw dart through the crowd towards the stage. "Nat? See them?" I called, pushing through the crowd. We watched as one of them managed to get on the stage. Rhodey flew over straight away and tried to grasp him but the arm but the man was quick enough to duck. "They will not help you. It's all lies!" Another of the men managed to get to the microphone. "Y/n?" Rhodey called. I used my powers and flew to the stage as a third man tried to grab Ross. The security guards tried to get onto the stage but at least six big men were stopping them. I threw the man grabbing Ross to one side and restrained three of the men blocking the stairs in order to allow the security guards to cuff them. Nat followed me shortly after. She took her place at the microphone. "Erm. Hi! Sorry for this minor inconvenience. Please bare with us and the speech shall continue shortly." She smiled at the crowd. A man snuck up behind her and grabbed her but with a smooth move he was on his back with her standing above her, a smug grin on her face. It only took us a few minutes to get all the men restrained, including the two people on the roof. I was still a little confused why the security guards appeared to be so useless, but I supposed it wasn't my place to ask. I high fived Nat as we brushed the hair out of our faces. Tony flew down and took a bow. Steve had also joined the fight after having to navigate his way out of the building and onto the stage. Everyone cheered as we walked off stage. The crowd swarmed us as we exited the area. "Our work here is done!" Tony called as we all walked out of the gates. "That was fun." Nat smiled. "Same time next week?" Rhodey asked. "Definitely." I smiled.
