Trudgen POV-

Dinner was served an hour after Jane and I hung out in the playhouse that sat in the backyard. For the most part the meal went well. The food was delicious and everyone ate until pants were being unbuttoned around the table. The kids were holy terrors as they ran around the kitchen with forks as they chased each other. The oldest bossing all the others around like she was queen regent.

Jane's siblings were passive aggressive assholes. Not just to her but to each other. Her brothers and her sisters' husbands had chilled out since we went to the range the day before and they had seen me shot, never missing my target. They were a little scared of me now and I didn't mind it at all. Her sisters were just bitches saying stupid shit that was getting under Jane's skin.
"I really don't understand why you can't be a teacher out here?" Jessica, the oldest sister asked.

"Because I don't want to live out here anymore." Jane replied. "I like the coast. I like the city. I like my friends."

"But you're being selfish." Jordan the middle sister crossed her arms while holding her wine.

"How the fuck am I being selfish?" Jane snapped.

"We need you out here. Do you think raising three kids is easy?" Jessica had a superior look on her face that I just wanted to smack right off of it.

I kept my mouth quiet while I put my arm around Jane's shoulder and rubbed my thumb inside the collar of her shirt. I could feel her tension as she began to square off with her sisters.

"You're the ones who had the babies. Maybe you two should talk to your husbands about how hard it is if you need help." Jane snapped with a hiss and glare at the aforementioned husbands.

"They're working. If you're just going to school you could spend the rest of your time helping to raise your nieces and nephews." Jordan matched her sister's superior look and they both looked down their noses at Jane.

"Again. They're not mine to raise, they're yours. I'm not going to move back here to be some free babysitter because you didn't understand how birth control worked!" Jane slammed her hand on the table and stood up. I watched her walk away in the hallway before I heard her feet stomp up the stairs.

I knew from the look she threw me on the way out of the dining room that she wanted a few minutes alone. I chuckled and turned to glare and shake my head at her sisters who sat across from me. I brought my glass of wine to my lips and kept my eyes locked on Jessica.

"What?" Jessica snapped as she looked me over and set her glass down to cross her arms tightly over her chest.

"Nothing. You are just, the worst." I chuckled.

"Excuse me?"

"You two, are the worst." I repeated. The entire table went silent.

"You can't talk to my wife like that." Jessica's husband Norman spoke up from her side.

"Yes I can." I scoffed. "Especially when she's trying to guilt my girlfriend into raising your kids. Why aren't you raising them?"

"I don't need to explain it to you."

"You do actually. Why is your wife, who is a stay at home mom, trying to wrangle my girlfriend into taking care of your kids? Why don't you take care of your kids. If she takes care of them all day surely you should be taking them off her hands at night. You sit behind a desk all day for fuck's sake. Your job is not a difficult one. Help your wife out man."

"Who are you to come in here and pass judgement on any of us?" Peter, Jordan's husband spoke up from next to his wife.

"Oh I'm sorry I thought we did introductions already. I'm Trudgen, I'm dating your horrible wife's little sister." I smirked at the man.
