It was bumpy-
wherever you were.

Actually, where were you?

Opening your eyes, you were met with nothing but total and absolute darkness. You lifted your hands, half expecting to be met with the heavy blankets of your bedding, but instead felt something hard and flat a few inches above you. Now your eyes were wide open.

"W-Wait!" You exclaimed as if it would do anything, immediately shutting your mouth after. Your hands started banging on the lid of whatever you were in, occasionally moving to try your luck on the sides. A long box? Wait, no, a coffin.

Your heart immediately started rapping against your chest. "Why am I in a c-coffin?" You mumbled anxiously to yourself while looking around for some sort of way to escape, only meeting with darkness.

Putting your hands down to focus on your breathing, you noted several things about your surroundings. One, your clothing. It wasn't your usual (style of clothing) clothes you normally wear. Instead it was a light-weighted silk gown of sorts. Was this a cultist thing? A sacrifice?!

Second, you noticed sounds of what was going on outside your coffin. It was bumpy yet you knew you were in some sort of transportation, so you must have been a carriage or something. But... who still uses a carriage? And by the sounds of hooves against the ground, you guessed this was the original horsepower vehicle.

Knowing you couldn't get out of this, you sat patiently while trying to calm yourself. This is fine, right? Just a really weird dream where you'll wake up in your room.

Eventually the horses and carriage stopped and you were lifted out. But it wasn't like it was hauled out manually. More like floated. Although that was the least of your worries.

At this point you were just waiting for someone to open this thing of to which you would probably punch in the face and run. Or maybe you could call out for help, but you didn't want to draw attention to yourself.

Throughout this worrying, you almost didn't hear little footsteps drawing towards you.

"I better hurry up and find that uniform before someone spots me... Urgggh! This lid weighs a ton! Try this on for size! Mya-ha!" What was that? A raspy yet high voice started talking (rather close to you if I might add) about a what? A uniform?

You didn't have much time to think though, not before warmth started to seep through whatever material the coffin was made out of. "Ah? F-Fire?!" Out of the instinct to, you know, not burn alive, you started pounding at the lid, making almost pathetic grunts and groans as you forced yourself onto the lid to pop it off.

Eventually the lip popped open with some unexpected help from the outside. "Now to grab the goods." A mischievous voice plotted. Right as your eyes met their's, they said, "What?! You ain't supposed to be awake!"

Whatever it was, it wasn't something you've seen before. A cat of sorts? By the voice you conclude it was a boy, but... why did a something-animal-like speak to you like a human. He had dark gray fur with a fluffy white chest and two large, circular blue eyes staring up at you in shock. The most notable thing about him was the blue fire emitting from his eyes.

"A cat?!" You exclaimed, stepping forward just to make some space between you two, only to end up falling gracelessly to the floor, barely able to catch yourself before falling on your face. Your head shot up to look around, only to see a grand room full of floating coffins. "H-How? Why?" You babbled out in awe.

"First you call me, sorcerer extraordinaire Grim, a cat! Then you have the nerve to ignore me!" Your head shot back at the... thing who apparently wasn't a cat, that had just jumped down from his place on the coffin. Only then did you notice the black pitchfork tail he seemed to possess. You could only imagine what you look like. Wide-eyed, looking over your shoulder at the creature from the floor.
