Lyra's POV
In the morn, I packed food for everyone, with Bombur's help. I always had to keep him from eating the food. I saw Thorin walk into the dining room to find Bombur and I. He motioned to Bombur and he soon left. Leaving me and Thorin. I looked up at him.

"You don't think I know what you are?"

"I don't doubt that you do know."
He nodded and sighed. I changed into trousers and a blouse, then I put a leather vest and a cloak on. It was my father's-my real father's-cloak. It still had his scent.

"That's a nice thing lass." Bofur smiled. I thanked him and carried my things.

"We only have a horse for Bilbo, and you, you'll ride it for now until Bilbo arrived. Pema you take Lyra's horse."

I nodded and we rode. I looked back slightly, papa wouldn't have wanted me to do this.

"Lyra?" Pema looked at me.
"Yes?"

"You alright?"

"Yes, just anxious and excited." I smiled softly. She nodded and rode on.

Pema's POV
I rode and eyed Fili riding in front of me, so I caught up."Hello." I smiled.

"How do you know Lyra?"

"We grew up together, I'm 5 years older."

"I'm 5 years older than Kili." He laughed. I laughed with him until I heard yelling.

"Wait! Wait!!" It was Mr. Baggins. Lyra grinned and transferred to Kili's horse. Kili held her waist as she rode with two legs on one side facing us.

"Told you." She stuck her tongue out at Dori and Dwalin. She was tossed coins, so were Fili, Kili, and I. We all talked and laughed as we stayed in the back. Lyra laid her head against Kili's back.

"Tired already m'lady?"

"No." She whispered.

Kili's POV
Lyra held onto my waist as she dazed off. I smiled softly and rode on. She must've been comfy since she hadn't moved for the past hour.

"Let us set camp!" Uncle hollered as we stopped near a cliff, which made Lyra wake. I got off, then helped her get off. I held her waist tight and we were close."How you doing?" I whispered, smiling, but she just pulled away."Alright." She blushed and went to Pema.

Pema's POV
I talked with Nori and Oin as we waited for night to fall.

"How long have you known Lyra?"

"Ever since we were little. I'm like a big sister to her."

"You two are about 30 right?"

"Yes, but I'm 5 years older than Lyra."

"Like Fili with Kili. You guys are a bit alike."

"Except their brooding like their uncle." I laughed and Lyra sat next to me.

She sighed and laid her head on my shoulder. I smiled and patted her head.

"My ears hurt."
"I'm sorry, I forgot the medicine."
"Okay..."

"Let me see lass." Oin motioned her foreword, so she obeyed.

"I don't know if my medicine will help, but I'll try my best."

Lyra's POV
I woke abruptly at dawn. The only person awake was Thorin. I sighed and wiped my forehead as I got up and sat on the cliff.

"You alright?" He asked.

"Yes." I watched as he put out his pipe.

"I think a great king would need his sleep."

"Not when Bombur snores like a hurricane." He smirked which made me stifle a laugh.

"Why was my father chosen for this?"

"I ask myself that."

"I don't regret it, coming on this quest with him..I'm scared for him. He stopped having his adventures at 40, 20 in human ageing. Now...11 years later...it's like he's unfamiliar with it."

"Is he your real father?"

"I'm adopted."

"Oh..."

"It's alright...I-" I stopped and winced. My ear was stinging.

"What is it? Are you-"

"Orcs...2 miles away." I whispered. He looked at me and just nodded. We saw the sunrise and I knew we were to get up and go soon.

"You should get some more sleep..."

"I-..." I nodded and laid down next to Pema.
