I was a straight "A" student. I was class president. I had never even gotten into trouble in my life. But, like most eighth-graders, I had hunger for money that trumped my moral integrity.

"Hey, if you aren't gonna buy anything, you need to head back to class," informed Ms. Albertsson as I was examining a blue mechanical pencil, with a small, rubber panda at the end.
This story begins at the school book fair. Back when my reputation was clean and my morals were solid. The only money I had ever "made" was Christmas money from my grandma. I was pretty much a "goody-two-shoes."
So, I reluctantly put the pencil down and headed back to class.
