Now before this chapter starts, there's a few things I gotta mention. One is that I gotta hope you've seen Endgame...if not please watch it...cause in that Hawkeye goes through a change into Ronin, a masked murderer. This is the origin story of how that happened since the movie gave like no context.
This was supposed to be more detailed towards the ends but it was getting too long, had to cut it short. You may have questions...please ask them. Thank you and more will be explained later on.
6 Months After the Snap
Barton Farm, Waverly, Iowa
For a good few months I did nothing but sit and stare at walls, trying to comprehend the fact that Logan might actually be gone as well as the kids. Oliver was barely a year old and Hannah was just starting to be able to speak more complex sentences. You could actually hold a conversation with her and Logan and I were so excited for her to start kindergarten in September. We both knew that we'd be a puddle of tears on that first day, watching as a human that we still thought of as a baby was slowly starting to grow up. It was a thought that saddened me even more thanks to the fact that Hannah was gone. She'd never get a first day of school or a first kiss, a first date or a chance for her dad to begrudgingly walk her down the aisle. And Oliver would never get the chance to hear my voice since his implant was set to be put in in a few weeks. He had never heard his father tell him that he loves him or that is deafness was just a reason to push harder. I had never gotten the chance to call his name and watch him smile at me and I could never get that chance.
For the first six months everything was too overwhelming to really do anything so I resorted to staring at the TV, desperate for any news. The phenomenon that people had lovingly nicknamed the Vanishing had happened everywhere and it seemed as though half the Earth's population was gone. We had gone from just over seven billion to just under three and a half in less than a second and people didn't know what to do. The president hadn't vanished which was a blessing but other countries had lost their leaders or at least most of them. It took a month just to keep the majority of the planet from falling into a state of total anarchy. Some countries had already failed but the vast majority had been ok and kept their shit together. It took a lot of effort from everyone to keep the world at least a tad bit normal and not having phone lines made it worse. The phone companies didn't have enough people to run everything so for the first few months no one had any service. I kept checking my phone to see if I had missed any calls but I never did and in turn assumed the worst. But it wasn't until the phone lines started working and I finally got ahold of someone that I realized just how bad things really were.
I was just sitting in the living room, staring at the TV when the sound of my cell ringing nearly gave me a heart attack. I practically jumped out of my skin before grabbing the phone and hastily pressing talk before bringing it up to my ear.
"Hello?" I inquired and the voice on the other end sighed in relief.
"Clint, thank god. I can't believe that I finally got ahold of someone."
I raised a brow at the fact that Leo's husband Alex was on the other end of the line. He was the last person that I thought would ever call and actually expected someone like Stark or Fury.
