"Abby." I breathed hard when I finally caught up to her. She finally quit running away from me after a while, and she just sat down on a swing in the park. She looked pretty sad, and it hurt me to see her that way.

"What?" she mumbled. "Here to find out who I like so you can go and make him fall in love with you?"

"Abby you know I would never do that-"

"Oh right. Come on, Jade. It's not fair. Everyone knew Calum loved you before he left, and when you hated him after he left, I figured maybe I could step in. But no, he's still crazy as fuck about you. Two fucking years later, and you still hated him!" she cried.

I didn't really know how to respond to that; if she thought I could control Calum's being in love with me, she's crazy. And I'm not going to stop being in love with him either, just because she has a little crush on him.

"I didn't hate him." I said in a small voice. Abby just scoffed, but didn't say anything for a while. We just sat in the swings and stared at the ground for a while.

"He's crazy about you. You better get ahold of him before he moves on." she mumbled.

"Abby, I love Calum. And I didn't exactly realize it until a couple days ago, but I've been in love with him for a long time now. And I don't want you to be angry with me." I spoke bravely, despite the fact that I was scared half to death of losing my best friend.

"Okay Jade." she mumbled. "I'm just gonna go home."

"Abby, you don't hate me, do you?" I asked before she could walk too far away.

"No. I'll call you tomorrow or something." she waved me off, turning around and walking away again.

"So Abby just completely freaked out on you?" Calum questioned. I had just told him everything that had happened between Abby and I. He didn't seem surprised that she was pissed, but I don't think he cared too much.

We were at Calum's place, up in his bedroom. He was shirtless, big surprise there, and I was laying on Calum's chest. We had just finished having dinner with the Hood's; my favorite thing ever.

"Yeah. Man, Cal, she's got a huge crush on you. She just won't admit it." I scoffed.

"Well, I could say something really cheesy right now about how you're the only girl I could ever love, but I won't because I know you hate cheesy shit." he laughed. I laughed alongside him, then decided to ask him what I had been meaning to ask for a few days now.

"Hey Cal?"

"Mhmm?"

"What- what are we?" I stuttered.

Calum was basically sending me mixed signals. Like, he told me he loved me and everything, but we weren't official, and it was quite confusing.

"What do you mean?" he furrowed his eyebrows together as he stared down at me.

"Well, like, we aren't dating, but I feel like if I were to go on a date with another guy, you'd flip out and beat his ass." I chuckled. I expected Calum to laugh, but his whole body tensed up.

"Why? Did some guy ask you on a date?" he asked, his voice dripping with fear and hatred.

"No, Cal. It was just hypothetical." I laughed. Damn, I didn't realize how protective he actually is of me.

"Well, just so you can't go out with any other guys, Jade McKingsley, will you be my girlfriend?" he whispered, his brown eyes staring down intently with a small smile on his face.

"Are you serious? The Calum Hood wants to be my boyfriend? Oh my god, I have to go put that on my blog!" I tease, pulling out his grasp and getting ready to hop out of bed.

"Ha ha." he rolled his eyes, taking my wrists and holding me down beside him on the bed. "So, is that a yes?" he smirked.

"Mhm." I nod as he leans down and softly plants a kiss on my lips.

"Hey Calum - holy shit, sorry!" Mali busted into Calum's room, but covered her eyes once she saw the two of us.

"You can open your eyes, Mal." Calum chuckled.

"Wait, are you fucking kidding me? You're Jade, and you're Calum, and you just... are you two?" Mali's mouth fell open in shock as she stared at the two of us.

"Yeah." Calum nodded, biting his lip to hide a smile.

"Aww! Mum, Calum and Jade are dating!" Mali screamed loudly through the house, leaving Calum's room and slamming the door behind her. Calum and I both let out a loud laugh at his hopeless sister, then fell back on the bed.

"You said you weren't mad." I crossed my arms in front of my chest as I stood in front of Abby the next day in school. She was ignoring me, and it was really beginning to piss me off.

"I'm not." she mumbled, but wouldn't meet my eyes.

"Carter, tell your sister she's being ridiculous!" I threw my hands up in the air in defeat, shooting Carter a look.

"You're being ridiculous." Carter mumbled without looking up from his phone. I doubt he even heard a word Abby or I had even said.

"Carter!" I hit him hard on the chest, making him snap out of whatever trance he was in.

"Ow! Goddamn, what?" he pouted and rubbed the area on his chest that I had hit him.

"Abby is angry with me because Calum and I are dating." I told him.

This whole thing with Abby was getting out of control. Yesterday, after Calum made it official, I was really excited and called her to tell her the good news. She flipped out, of course, and made it a bigger deal than it was. Now, she's pissed at me. I mean, as a best friend, I just wish she would be happy for me.

"Seriously, Abby? Grow up, sis." Carter mumbled, rolling his eyes at his sister. Abby slammed her locker shut and stormed away from us.

"Carter, I didn't mean-"

"I know, Jade. She's just being a bitch, relax. I'll talk some sense into her and have her call you tonight, yeah?"

"Yeah, okay." I mumbled, kicking the floor.

"Have a good day!" Carter yelled and waved to me as he ran off down the hallway. Sighing, I went off to my classes as well.

"Abby!" I nearly shouted in relief as I picked up the phone later that night. I didn't think she would ever call.

"Hey Jade." she mumbled into the phone. "I just wanted to apologize, I know you love Calum and he loves you. I'm just being stupid, I'm sorry."

My heart warmed at my best friends words; they meant a lot to me. She was right too, I do love Calum. I didn't ever intend to hurt Abby when I realized that I loved Calum, but it was one of the many flaws in Calum and I's relationship.

"It's okay, Abbs. No sweat." I shrugged it off. "So what are you doing tomorrow night?"

"There's a party downtown, would you care to join?" she asked, her voice accelerating in excitement.

"I'd love to." I beamed.

"You aren't going to bring.." she trailed off.

"No, I'm sure Calum is doing something with his band tomorrow anyway. Pick me up at 6?" I asked.

"See you then, Jade."
