Back To Work

The day finally came where I could go back to work.  I missed Bondi and the boys a lot.  I woke up at 6:00.  I climbed out of bed and went downstairs.  "How are you feeling this morning?" Bisho asked.  "I feel pretty good," I answered.  I got a bowl of cereal and topped it with sliced banana.  I got some orange juice and ate my breakfast.  I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put on my uniform.  I brushed my hair and put it in a ponytail before putting on some lip gloss.  I slid my feet into a pair of flip flops and joined Bisho downstairs.  We drove to Bondi.

I got out of the car in front of the tower and Bisho drove away.  I walked into the tower.  "Hey Jennifer," Nicola said hugging me gently.  "Hey," I laughed.  "How's your back doing?" she asked.  "It's doing alright but I still have to rest it," I answered.  "That's not too bad then.  Harries, Deano, Hoppo, and I nearly had a heart attack when we saw that you were in trouble," Nicola stated.  "Aw.  Hopefully I didn't scare you that bad," I replied.  Whippet, Azza, Kobi, Dunno, Terry, and Jake joined us in the tower.  All of them gave me tons of hugs.  Nicola and I were scheduled to be in the tower.  The boys went off to their positions at we went on duty.

An hour into our shift, our attention was drawn to the surfing zone.  A surfer started attacking another surfer.  Soon, both of them were fighting each other.  "Guys we're gonna need the police here," Terry radioed.  I called the police.  "This is the police.  How can we help you?" a man asked.  "I'm on of the lifeguards at Bondi Beach and there's a fight going on between two surfers," I answered.  "Okay.  We'll be there in a few minutes," he replied.  Jake and Whippet pinned down the men.  The police came quickly.  They interviewed Jake and Whippet.  The police put handcuffs on the men and escorted them off the beach.

There was a knock on the tower door.  I opened it.  "Can you please help me?  I hurt my arm while I was skateboarding," a little boy said.  "Of course I can.  Come on in," I replied guiding him into the tower.  I examined his arm.  There was a large scrape on it.  I put on some gloves and got some saline solution from the medical cabinet.  I cleaned the scrape with it and wrapped the affected area of his arm in gauze.  "There you go buddy," I said.  "Thanks," he said hugging me.  "You're welcome," I smiled giving him a small hug.  The boy skipped out of the tower and I went back to Nicola.  "It was a skateboarding injury," I told her.  "Aw.  Poor kid," Nicola said.  "He handled it pretty well actually," I replied.

"I think we have a possible shark siting near North Bondi," Kobi radioed.  I picked up the binoculars to spot the shark.  "I see it too.  Should we sound the alarm?" I asked.  "Yeah sound the alarm," Kobi answered.  I pulled the shark alarm.  The siren blared out of the speakers.  People ran out of the water.  It was evacuated quickly.  Azza and Kobi went out on the jetski to investigate.  "The shark is gone," Azza reported.  "Fantastic," I radioed.  I gave a short blast of the shark alarm to let people know that the water was safe once again.

At 7:00, Jake and Terry packed up the flags.  Bisho picked me up and we drove home.  "How was work?" he asked.  "It was pretty good.  There was a fight between two surfers and a shark so that kept us pretty busy," I answered.  Bisho made pasta shells stuffed with meatballs and topped with mozzerella cheese.  It was delicious.  I took a shower after I finished eating.  I used a mirror to see how my stitches are doing.  They were almost dissolved.  I put on pajamas and brushed my hair until it was smooth.  I squeezed the water out of it with a towel and went into my room.  I decided to go to bed a little early.  I got under the covers, turned the light off, and fell asleep.
