Luke and Ashton sat next to each other on the couch. It had been raining all day so they had cancelled their lunch plans and decided to have a movie marathon.Ashton has brought over a bunch of really old classics that Luke hadn't even heard of. While Luke stared at the flashing screen, attempting to keep up with the plot, Ashton studied Luke's face. His eyes ran over Luke's jawline, over his pale pink lips. He wanted to feel his own against them, he wanted to feel Luke's warmth.
Luke looked at Ashton and turned pink when he saw the older boy already looking at him. Both boys quickly adverted their eyes away and turned their heads back to the movie.
Luke was still a little nervous around Ashton. He felt scared to put trust into someone.
He still hadn't let Ashton see him as a boy. He wore full makeup and a oversized sweater paired with pale pink skinny jeans. His knees hugged up to his chest, as another plot twist accrued in the movie. But he could concentrate. His heart was racing, he could feel his heartbeat in every vein, in every limb of his body. He was so close to Ashton. The most beautiful boy he had ever met. The first boy who hadn't been disgusted in Luke for being himself, the first boy who could actually like him back.
Ashton shifted on the couch and Luke's heart leapt.
"Enjoying the movie?" Ashton asked.
"Honestly?" Luke said, "I have absolutely no idea what's going on."
Ashton giggled, "Me neither."
"I thought this was your favourite movie?" Luke said confused.
"No it's my mums favourite movie, I just like the male lead," Ashton winked.
Luke let out a little squeaking noise, "I thought it was just me," he said a little pink.
Ashton smiled. He made Luke feel warm inside. Luke felt Ashton shuffle closer and then he felt the curly haired boy's warm body surround him. He felt safe enclosed in Ashton's human cave, he felt true. All his lying and falseness, all the pain and hurt, vanished away and was replaced with something Luke hadn't felt for a long time.
Love.
"Is this ok?" Ashton asked.
"Mm-hmm," Luke hummed.
He stopped trying to watch the movie and instead looked out the window. He saw the rain fall down and the people run around chaotic, trying to get out of the storm. The raindrops ran down the glass and he heard them fall into the roof.
How did I ever deserve him, Luke thought.
