Instead of feeling the cold floor, she felt a pair of arms catch her. She opened her eyes and was face to face with Sebastian.
Faith blushed and stayed silent, knowing Sebastian was right about her needing rest. "Must you be so stubborn all the time?" Sebastian asked while picking her up bridal style, carrying her back to her room.
"I never get wounded on missions. I don't know how long it takes to heal." The reaper crossed her arms, her ears folding down against her head.
Sebastian placed her on her bed, "From what I understand from my previous encounters with grim reapers, the healing process depends on how badly injured you get. Unlike demons, who heal quickly."
"I suppose that makes sense. After all, you were injured far worse than I was." Faith responded, drawing a mimicked line down Sebastian's torso with her hand.
"Now please get some rest. I will be back to get you when dinner is ready." Sebastian said as he turned to leave.
"Wait." Turning back around, Sebastian heard Faith sigh and approached her again. "Yes?"
Faith looked up at the demon, "I wanted to apologize for earlier. I am just not ready to make a permanent choice."
Sebastian sat down on the bed beside her, facing the door. "I understand why you pushed me away and I am not upset. There is no need for you to apologize. I should be the one apologizing instead." He looked at her, "So please forgive me." He pouted, causing Faith to giggle.
"You are ridiculous." She leaned on his shoulder and suddenly spoke sternly, "Just do not force yourself on me again."
Sebastian chuckled, "Understood."
The demon stood up and faced Faith, "Now, I must be off. The master expects his dinner very soon and I cannot be late." They both shared a smile as Sebastian left the room to prepare dinner.
.
Faith sat down on her bed, looking around the room. She realized that she would be leaving the manor after the mission and she was wondering if she would be able to continue her relationship with the butler if she chose to be with him.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the creaking of her window opening. Her ears perked up and her head swished around to see the feline she once called a friend.
Faith's eyes widened in fear. She stood up from her bed and started backing away to the door. He smiled at her sinisterly. His green irises shining through his black scleras.
Raymond's death scythe was on his hands as he examined his scythe claws. He flashed his eyes at the female reaper, "Hello darling."
Faith was about to call for Sebastian but Raymond interrupted her, "Call that demon and I'll kill you where you stand." He threatened.
Faith stayed silent as he continued, her tail flicking and her ears flattening defensively. "I'm shocked Faith. You let that filthy beast play with your heart." He walked towards her and circled around her. Faith remained still as she listened. "He may say that he loves you Faith, but I'm sure he doesn't. I'm sure he just wants the mission over. Then he'll go back to normal as if you never existed."
"You're lying. Even if I do not choose him, I refuse to believe anything you say. You won't get into my head this time Raymond." Faith growled. Her eyes followed the male reaper as he circled her again, "I would never." He ironically scoffed. He chuckled and said with a smirk, "But I do wonder how your sister would feel about this."
Faith tensed up, "She's gone. Leave her out of this." She faced Raymond and tears welled up in her eyes. Beside the male reaper was her sister Maddelynn.
